The hardest goodbye I’ll ever say

Five years ago, I moved away from everything I knew to a place that felt completely unfamiliar. I walked into 7th grade tryouts knowing just one person, and walked out with hugs from girls who would soon become some of the most important people in my life.

From our very first practice this season, we could feel something special in the air. It showed in every game, every win, every hard fought point. I’m so thankful I got the chance to be a part of something so real and so full of heart. We may have fallen short of our final goal, but the hard work, dedication, and pure grit we poured into this season will stay with me forever. These girls never failed to lift me up or make me smile, even on the hardest days. No matter how tough the practice or how long the day, I always showed up because I knew I’d be surrounded by people who loved me, believed in me, and had my back through it all.

When we were just freshman, we never thought about how fast time would fly. One day, we were playing our very first game together, and in what feels like a blink, we were stepping onto the court for the last time as Tigers. The blood, sweat, bruises, tears, and laughter we shared will forever be part of who I am.

To Coach Berry and Coach Curtis, thank you for believing in me on the days it was hard to believe in myself. Your belief in me, your patience, and your passion reminded me why I started playing in the first place. I’ll carry the lessons and the love you brought me far beyond the court.

Little did I know that moving here would lead me to not just teammates, but lifelong friends and family. To Bentonville Volleyball: thank you for teaching me what it means to love deeply, to fight for something bigger than myself, and to never take a moment for granted.
