This photo is proof that my grandmother, mother and I once shared physical space and time. But what to do when your memory is fuzzier than the girl in the image, and the feeling of separation and distance is dominating everything? Can she be brought back here through time, space and death for a new meeting?

That’s what I wanted to find out, and the result lies in “Datter” (Daughter). So excited that @nordiskpanorama will screen it in the special programme “Traces of the Unseen” with two other poetic, experimental short films that explore memory, migration and ancestry. They can all be seen in three libraries across Malmö, Sweden from September 17th-21st - for free! Check out nordiskpanorama.com for more info.

The film was developed at @dennorskefilmskolen, through an amazing collaboration with composer @teodorwolgers and eminent consultancy by Lotte Mik-Meyer and Margreth Olin amongst others. And of course backed by the best class ever MFA kull 5. 🎉

It wouldn’t have been finished without the generosity of producer @johcarin, sound designer Gisle Tveito and grade/online @mauritzbs. Thank you! Also a big woop to @fresk_art who helped with title and poster design.

And of course- it would never have been made without my mother, who I owe everything to. 🧡

Side note: 100000 thanks to Carlo Rovelli who through his book «The Order of Time” managed to make me (and so many other non-scientists, I’m sure!) absorb theories about space-time-relativity, so I can apply it in my art and life. Really recommend this book if you want to go through perpetual identity crises in a constant loop of collapsed time. Let’s go! by @aebrahimi

Som @kirstifalch påpekte: fullstendig karakterbrist. by @aebrahimi

The day before the war started one of my cousins sent a video of blooming cherry blossoms in a park near her home in Iran. A month later spring has finally come to Norway. 2026 feels frozen in time and horror, but nature has a way of showing that change is coming. It must and it will. by @aebrahimi
