Before I was “Dr. Judith” my daddy called me “Jude”. I was determined to learn and curious about science. I wanted to become a physician scientist so badly that I would cry and pray every night. I just didn’t see a path out of poverty besides education and God answered my prayers.

I got accepted into the @thentaa at @rutgersu @ru_ububms @aeeetrio and it changed my life. There is a real disadvantage when it comes to education in low income communities and we can’t just pick ourselves up from our bootstraps. We need access and the Upward bound program gave us SAT prep, college courses and more every Summer during high school. That’s how I was able to get into @dukeuniversity for college and subsequently earn a dual MD/MBA at @columbia @vpsalumnicolumbia @columbia_biz

People like me understand how hard it can be and we have empathy and are committed to giving back. Thank you for this honor and recognition and let’s all continue to uplift those who are the most vulnerable and give them access to unlimited potential and opportunities because they will make the world a better place.

While our McNair Day of action has passed. We must press onward and keep up the fight to protect McNair.
Continue to contact congress to DEFEND McNair!
“Whether or not you reach your goals in life depends entirely on how well you prepare for them and how badly you want them.”
— Ronald McNair
✅ STEP 1: CRAFT YOUR MESSAGE
📝 Example:
“My name is [Name] and I am a constituent from [District/State]. I am calling because I am very concerned about the TRIO McNair program. I am asking that [Representative/Senator] contact the Secretary of Education and ensure that the McNair programs are not cancelled and that all McNair grant award notifications for 2025-2026 are released before September 30!”
📞 STEP 2: CALL YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS
👉 Find your Rep: https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member
📧 STEP 3: SEND A FOLLOW-UP EMAIL.
✉️ To the education aide, Legislative Director, & District Directors.
🤝 STEP 4: MULTIPLY OUR IMPACT
Invite 3–5 friends/colleagues to join in! 🚀💪
Together, WE can protect McNair’s legacy & change lives. ❤️🖤🎓✨

Today, September 16th, is a McNair Day of Action. McNair is the only Federal TRIO program authorized to serve students from “underrepresented in graduate education” backgrounds, McNair is facing unprecedented challenges.
We need your help to protect McNair! Take 5mins to fight for McNair’s future:
📝Craft your Message-Share the postive impact of McNair
☎️Contact your U.S. Representative and both U.S. Senators
📧Send Follow-up Emails
🤝Invite Five People to Participate
🧾Report your Results to COE

We must insist that McNair programs are protected and all McNair GANs are released without delay.
