I was furious to see why LGBTQIA+ people are always the scapegoat to all of the political problems in the country lately. Looked into it a little bit and it turns out to be a long rabbit hole of signs of authoritarianism and sharp decline of democracy.

In this discussion, Ganjar Satrio, Service Designer, Organizer & Facilitator with Efraim Leonard, Coordinator of Kenapa Harus Peduli, Aulia Amanda Santoso, Participatory Design & Civic Innovation Leader, also Prinvia Prichariel, Creator/Designer of Artefak Kita, reflect on a decade shaped by political shifts, technological advancements, and seemingly limitless possibilities. Looking back at the promises of that era, the conversation explores how these aspirations have evolved over the past two decades, where they may have taken a different turn, and what new promises today’s young designers envision for the future.

The session will be held at Ashta District 8 Flix Cinema Studio 2 on Saturday 17 October 2026

Efraim Leonard is the Co Founder and Coordinator of Kenapa Harus Peduli, an Indonesian movement builder and social-justice campaigner working in youth participation and digital campaigning. He develops accessible campaigns on environmental concerns, marginalized communities, and economic justice, while mobilizing volunteers and connecting young people with policymakers. His work shows how communication and community organizing can turn “knowing about an issue”into actually caring and participating.

reminiscing campus

I’d wait for you for more than a decade

is this how we reach our dreams?

a roulette of unexpected fun

that accompanied you from going insane

walking down every day

being versatile towards change

seeing the bus leaving

and realizing how we are better together

i just want you by @aefraimleonard

Five days in Johannesburg and I learned more about social justice, equality and activism from grassroot activists all around the world.

I learned that all oppressive governments are using the same tactics to silence their people… which means, global collaboration and coordination is more important than ever to ensure a work that is working for the 99%.

I have more to say, but for now… Amandla awethu!
