Check it out check it out! My first commitment is to my university students during the semester AND ALSO one of my favorite places to teach has consistently been Tin House. Well Tin House became McCormack Writing Center AND they moved my workshops to Sundays just so I could teach in the Fall Speculative Online workshop with them! Applications are open and due June 3rd; if you wind up in my workshop, your schedule will look a bit different! Hope to see you (virtually) there! by @aeosworth

Awakened is out in paperback and I’m late posting about it because I have a baby and all I want to do is hang out with my baby!

That said, this book is also my baby and people have said such nice things about it. It’s received praise from @washingtonpost, it’s been a @usatoday best seller, it received an @americanlibraryassociation Stonewall honor, ands it’s been stolen from my local library (the highest honor!).

In a time where transphobia is fashionable, it feels so good that so many people are reading a book that celebrates the magic inherent to trans people. To quote the book: The amazing thing has happened; fuck yeah.

Today is Groundhog Day, and Punxsutawney Phil, America’s favorite 200-year-old prescient cryptid, has a message for you.

Turns out we have six more weeks of winter headed our way. But, more importantly, Phil thinks you should head over to Backerkit to show your support for Tales from the Cryptids, Scryptid Games’ first anthology of TTRPGs, fiction, poetry, and other uncanny ephemera.

This anthology will flip the lens on conventional cryptid lore, spotlighting storytelling from the perspective of the monsters, and Phil thinks that’s pretty neat.

The project just went live on Backerkit and Phil doesn’t want you to miss out on the rad exclusive rewards, since they’ll probably go fast. (Link in bio to back.)

The book will be edited by Psychic Trash Detectives creator @bwinterose and will feature work from superstar creators like @lackingceremony ✨, @sharangbiswas ✨, @jasonbcrawford ✨, @sawdustbear ✨, @aeosworth ✨, and @storygoose ✨. And the more funds we raise through this campaign, the more additional work we’ll accept from game designers, fiction writers, poets, and other uncanny contributors when we open to submissions in March.

So head on over to Backerkit to help Phil and his buds make this project a reality. by @aeosworth

Holy macaroni, witches! AWAKENED is a Stonewall Honor Book! Congratulations to the other @americanlibraryassociation Barbara Gittings Literature Award-winning authors, @theoceanisgay and @todd_milo, as well as the the winners of the award, @mike_curato and @mickmakesmagic! My trans witches are in great company today!

(Also thank you to @ryandharbage for photoshopping this image so I didn't have to, goddess bless agents.) by @aeosworth

The cryptid countdown continues!

Crowdfunding for Tales from the Cryptids, Scryptid Games’ new anthology of TTRPGs, fiction, poetry, and other uncanny ephemera, begins in 7 days! (Link in bio to follow the project and be the first to know when it launches on February 2nd.)

The more funds we raise for this project, the more games, stories, poems, and other weird content we’ll be able to include when we open to submissions this spring.

Next up on our amazing list of contributors is @aeosworth ✨, who is writing a short story about the Not Deer!

A.E. Osworth is a novelist whose debut, We Are Watching Eliza Bright (Grand Central Publishing 2021) was long listed for The Center For Fiction First Novel Prize, The Brooklyn Public Library Literary Prize, and The Tournament of Books; it was a finalist for The Oregon Book Award. Their second novel, Awakened, about a coven of transgender witches fighting artificial intelligence with magic, was published by Grand Central Publishing in March 2025. by @aeosworth

One! More! Launch event! Before I pop a baby out! Seriously folks, this is the very last thing I am committed to doing before my partner and I drop our latest project 😂. And speaking of my partner, Dr. A.J. Lowik is my conversation partner, so this is our very first event together! Come by the @galtmuseum to hear us yap and to hear me read and to eat really good snacks. Free to attend, RSVP at the link in my bio! by @aeosworth

Drove through Nelson and now there’s a signed copy of AWAKENED at @otterbooksinc. I didn’t write profanity in this one! (I usually say “fuck JK Rowling) by @aeosworth

I’m up to something really cool with @_carriejenkins_ and @wekyart for the next five years!! Undisciplined means, in a quick and dirty nutshell, rejecting the idea that learning (and art making! And everything!) is siloed. It goes beyond “interdisciplinary.” Link in bio for more info! by @aeosworth
