This post is quite a bit late, but I still wanted to say how grateful I am for the experiences I’ve had and relationships I’ve built through playing volleyball again. Waupaca was amazing and I will be back next year! Finishing 9th in Women’s Open Trips in a national grass circuit tournament, let alone playing trips for the first time in a tournament of this caliber, is pretty darn cool. Shoutout to my amazing teammates and friends that came up and played with me! by @aepalmer13

🔥 MARSHALL MADNESS OPEN TOP 5 SPOTLIGHT: WOMEN’S DIVISION 🔥

Representing local Kentucky talent, this next squad brings massive college credentials, VLA pedigree, and serious tournament experience! ‼️

Please welcome BLUEGRASS BLAZE 🏐👇

❤️‍🔥 Emily Scott
A absolute powerhouse. Emily plays for the VLA Bluegrass Blaze Squad and was a D1 star at the University of Louisville, where she earned ACC Freshman Honors after coming out of high school as a PrepDig Wisconsin standout. Emily is back from taking 3rd place at Marshall Madness last year and is hungry to take the crown! 👑💥

🏆 Brooke Huegli
Fresh off a big WIN at the Bluegrass Battle, Brooke is quickly rising as one of the top Women’s Open players in Lexington! She played club volleyball at Drake University while earning her Doctor of Pharmacy—showing off serious talent both on the court and in the classroom. Keep your eyes on her court control and playmaker energy this weekend! ⚡️

💟 Anna Palmer
Currently balling out for the VLA Bluegrass Blaze, Anna played D1 volleyball at the University of Memphis and won two Kentucky State Championships with Assumption! On top of assisting at the University of Delaware, she was named an AVCA Thirty Under 30 Coach. Talk about high-level IQ! 🤝

🩵 Jaime Johnson
Another VLA Bluegrass Blaze star with an unbelievable resume! Jaime was a 2x JUCO National Champion, 2nd Team All-American, and First-Team All-Region before heading to Western Illinois, where she led the program in assists (over 1,500 total!). Just like Emily, Jaime took 3rd place at Marshall Madness last year and is back to claim the title! 🥇

LOCAL LEGENDS. 📈 Championship pedigree from top to bottom, this Kentucky squad is ready to hold down home turf!

Will Bluegrass Blaze take it all the way this year?👀

Growth can often times feel painful because it’s different, but that doesn’t make it a bad thing… When the last ball dropped on Saturday for MAVA 17 Select, my final club season coaching at MAVA came to a close. Overnight I became a Division 1 college coach for the University of Delaware and was in Indianapolis recruiting players to compete in the C-USA just two days later (swipe to see me in my official gear). Saying goodbye to MAVA—my second home, second family, and second passion—has been harder than I ever dreamed it would be because I never thought I’d leave. Delaware is really something special to have pulled me away and I couldn’t be more excited to bring my passion to the program and learn from/work with the amazing coaches heading up the program—Kim Lambert and Lenika Vasquez. Things are going to look a little different this fall, but “AP” is here to stay.

It is an honor to be a godmother and I am blessed to be Emmie’s. She received her First Communion and starred in her school’s ballet production of Alice in Wonderland the same weekend. Proud is an understatement and I am thrilled I was able to be there. Love you Emmie! by @aepalmer13

🚨Women’s USAV Roster Alert🚨

Name: Anna Palmer
Height: 6’1”
Position: Outside
Hometown: Louisville, KY
School: The University of Memphis
Fun Fact: Bakes, paints, basket weaves, any craft you can imagine, she does. *Got a concussion from passing out during a Flu Shot (at 18 years old…. AND got the flu 😂)

Welcome one of our newer members to the Blaze family! Anna quickly integrated with the team and has had an immediately impact. She brings lots of playing/coaching experience and just an overall great presence on the court.

Catch her repping Blaze at USAV Nationals in Orlando. 🌴🔥
