"Unbound Stillness"
It took a while to get to know this scale and I struggled with both the sound of it and ergonomics for weeks. But then I stopped fighting the dissonant tones. Embracing them and leaning into tension and uncertainty, I started to really fall in love with it. It's such a different experience to play than my others and I welcome the shift.

Short <3 minute version of a longer composition I've been working on.

"In the Stillness of the Morning"
Spent last week with a friend and surrounded by the beauty of Lake Tahoe. John Muir called the Sierras "the range of light". In this in-between time that brackets the end of summer vacations and the not-yet start of winter snow sports, the trails were quiet and we easily found corners of solitude.

Open mic at NorCal Handpan Gathering. I was a bit flustered at first starting off because I thought the open mic signups were filled, so I was just relaxing enjoying listening to everyone else and wasn't planning on playing anything until I was asked 60 seconds before this "do you have anything?" Turns out I had 0 words for intro or closing, because my brain instantly went into music mode, but I did have some quickly made decisions for what I could do to fit in 2 minute limit with no mental prep. So here's a shortened version of "Wandering the Shores"

Beautifully inspiring weekend.
🙏❤️ @grayshadowhandpan for hosting and putting together such an amazing event!

Mood shift. Delving into forest mystery.
We spent a golden hour or two (I'm not sure how long because it slipped past) exploring the mingled voices of these two scales. Listening, breathing, melodic whispered questions and answers and finding the magic of discordant tension release.

This one's still a work in progress as I fit together pieces that have been playing in my head for a while. Unrelated motifs at first find their home with each other in satisfying ways

What do you think of this scale pairing? Handpan jam, Me playing @handromeda.handpan C Onoleo, @3nd0rphinn playing @aura_handpan F2 Pygmy

When I first got this onoleo I thought it would be a solo instrument, but as I've played with more friends I keep getting surprised by the really fun ways it combines with other scales. by @aethervoce
