traveling again always pulls old trips back to the surface. this one from Bali because this table was a whole experience to put together.

the airbnb owner wanted an editorial table for photography after finding out I did flower work. The catch was there was not a big flower market nearby, just a few flower stands, a produce market, and whatever else I could forage along the way. and because our airbnb had no car access, everything I chose also had to fit with me on a 30 min moto ride back through the jungle of Ubud.

got to the Airbnb with no vases, chicken wire, shears… literally none of my normal stuff I had back home. found kitchen scissors + knives and just started playing. (now I always travel with shears if I’m checking in a bag ha)

no vision to follow, just seeing what I had in front of me and composing as I went.

still one of the tables I remember making most. maybe because the Bali experience had as much say in it as I did. taken in Ubud by @afika.studio

Most flowers don’t end at 5–7 days.

If you allow them to change,
they grow into something new.

Let them stay.
Water them a few times then dump out all the water, let them fade and rearrange to adjust their new form, and see them in a new way.

No matter the scale or art form, there’s something special about watching a loose idea on a screen or in your head turn into something you can actually stand inside of. 🖤
