“The funeral is about to begin.” ⚰️🩸In just one week, our Halloween on Screen series launches with our annual screening of F. W. Murnau’s NOSFERATU (1922) — this year featuring live accompaniment by Silent Orchestra. And that’s just the beginning of the fearsome festivities! Next weekend, Count @goredevol will present a 45th anniversary screening of THE EVIL DEAD (1981), and @bloodymayhemtheatrical will provide a live shadowcast for THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, in tribute to the late Tim Curry. From October 23 through November 5, you can also catch horror favorites SUSPIRIA (1977), DRACULA, BEETLEJUICE and CARRIE, alongside spooky cinema and cult classics like KWAIDAN, TRAIN TO BUSAN, THE RING, PHANTASM: REMASTERED and more. 🎟️ Halloween on Screen in our bio for tickets. by @afisilvertheatre
THE ODYSSEY is now one for the history books. 📖🏛️ Thank you to the enthusiastic audiences who have joined us for THE ODYSSEY in 70mm 🎞️. With numerous sold-out shows through its first four weeks, THE ODYSSEY is officially the highest-grossing film in AFI Silver’s history. It breaks a record that stood for 18 years — almost as long as Penelope waited for Odysseus. (Can you guess what film held the record previously?) 🎟️ 70mm shows are now on sale through Aug. 27. Advance tickets are strongly recommended; grab yours at AFI.com/Silver. #theodyssey #70mm #christopernolan #film by @afisilvertheatre

We’re extremely proud to be one of the few places in the country that is equipped to screen films in 70mm; it’s truly a rare art form. If you’ve ever seen a movie in 70mm at the Silver, thank you for helping us keep this art form alive! And if you haven’t yet, this weekend is the perfect opportunity. 🎟️ ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER has a sold-out first showing on film tonight, but tickets are still available for screenings tmrw and throughout the weekend. The Palme d’Or winner from this year’s @festivaldecannes opens at the Silver tomorrow! In FJORD, the latest film from two-time Palme d’Or winner Cristian Mungiu, a Norwegian woman (Renate Reinsve) and her devoutly evangelical Romanian husband (Sebastian Stan) relocate with their five children to her remote hometown. Their teenage children form a fast bond with a neighboring family as unease begins to simmer around their rigid beliefs. When allegations of abuse emerge, they are forced to confront a system of judgment that blurs the line between concern and prejudice. 🟦 “Thorny, riveting [...] holds a mirror up to a deeply polarized era.” — Brian Tallerico, @rogerebertofficial 🟦 “A triumphant film that tugs at the spiritual and soulful in all of us, regardless of nation, creed, faith, or the rejection of all three.” — Luke Hicks, @thefilmstage 🎟️ New Releases in bio for tickets. by @afisilvertheatre

Murnau’s uncredited appropriation of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula,” which casts a long and terrifying shadow over the vampire flick genre. 🐞Plus, stop-motion animated short THE CAMERAMAN’S REVENGE (1912) screens beforehand. Russian filmmaker Ladislas Starevich uses dead insects to tell the story of an adulterous beetle caught in flagrante delicto by a revenge-seeking grasshopper. 🎟️ Silent Cinema Showcase in bio for tickets.
