It’s the beginning of a new year for me. Last year was, without a doubt, the most eventful year of my life so far. A year that stretched me, broke me in some places, challenged everything I thought I knew, and forced me to confront parts of myself I had probably ignored for too long.

I lost my mum. My birthday last year was the last time I saw her alive. I had quickly dashed home to Kwara to spend a few days with her when her fatal illness, switched into what would later become the final phase.

I walked away from a radio career that had been a huge part of my identity for almost 18 years.

I became confused, questioned things I had always believed in, and lost faith in some of the very things that once gave me direction. I later learnt that some of what I was experiencing could be described as a midlife crisis. Whatever the name, it was real, uncomfortable, and deeply unsettling.

I ditched a brand I had painstakingly built and carried as part of my identity since 2014.

And perhaps most surprisingly, I lost interest in, and even developed resentment towards, some of the very things I had once struggled, sacrificed, and prayed for.

Looking back, I realize that sometimes, life doesn’t just change your circumstances; it changes you. And when you change, the things you once wanted so badly may no longer feel the same.

I am ending this chapter with more questions than answers. I cannot honestly say I have figured everything out, and I won’t pretend that every wound has healed or every uncertainty has disappeared.

But I am here. I am alive. I am preserved. And for that, I choose gratitude.

Today, I feel a little clearer. I am learning to make peace with the things I cannot change, let go of what no longer serves me, and give myself permission to begin again without feeling like I have failed. I am genuinely excited about what lies ahead.

It’s the last lap to 40, and I’M TOO YOUNG TO HAVE REGRETS!

I will start afresh. I will dream again. I will build again. I will explore new possibilities, embrace new versions of myself, and give life another beautiful shot.

Happy 39th Birthday to me! by @afoudasamuel

I sat down with one of the gods of the events space in Ibadan. Mc Caxton Martins, an impeccable professional Master of Ceremonies cum Event Planner. We started from Genesis and ended it at revelation. He also gave me some unbelievable insights into the personality of a chronic stammerer!

On today’s episode I sat with an old friend, colleague and brother ATM D Comedian @iamolubadanofcomedy to reminisce on the Stand-up Comedy industry in Ibadan. He successfully dragged me into the conversation, as much as I resisted the temptation, but we had a swell time!

It’s a conversation that you will enjoy, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Shout out to all comedians in Ibadan, both past and present!

——Funny Real life Story!

Sometimes last week, I was at a hospital with wifey and the girls, then I noticed an elderly man close to them who was staring at them uncomfortably. Then, we were sitting apart due to seat constraints, the girls were with their mom beside the man while I perched somewhere some meters away. I picked my phone and chatted my wife…….she told me certain things and then we agreed to swap seat, so I went there to sit with the girls beside the man.

Almost immediately I got there, he asked me; Are these your children? I said yes sir. He asked again so you have no boy? I said yes sir. He said what kind of life is that? How can a man like you just be giving birth to girls and feel comfortable with that? I was just smiling and wondering where he was driving at. Then he went on to tell me how his children are all over the world and he has over 20 of them. Okayyyyy.

Then he dropped the bomb shell, he said let me help you because the way I am seeing you I’m moved by pity. He proceeded to tell me how lucky I am for him to have volunteered to help me. He said “won ma n gba tally ki won to ri mi ni”, that is people queue up to consult him, then it dawned on me he must be a herbalist. He said when next you want to have a baby and you want it to be a boy, remove any complete attire of yours, after you have worn it, soak it in water and let your wife be drinking from the water. Then you will see the result and bless the day we met. I bowed and said thank you sir.

Luckily for me, they called my name to get our drugs and I left with my girls without looking back.

If you are like this great and generous Baba and you are moved by pity that I have just girls, please come in my DM and request my account number. For the water ehn, I have given you a free gift on this special occasion, if you fall under the category addressed by BABA. I will be waiting to hear your testimony after 9 months.

As for me, I count myself lucky and blessed to have daughters!

I’ve always dreamt of being a girl’s dad and God has answered my prayer twice, for that I’m eternally grateful. Happy international day of the girl child to my girls and all other girls in the world! by @afoudasamuel

#weekendthrowback This was at one of my shows, LAFF & ROLL with AFOUDA and Friends in 2013 or 2014 at the Old Premier Hotel. If you know where these three people are now? You will thank God for growth and the gift of PEOPLE!

Celebrating everyone who has supported my growth one way or the other over the years! Thank you!

That was Damilola “Ayorinde” as she then was, now Damilola Busari @damibusari and Teslim Oguniran (TOT) interviewing one of our guest performers Babatunde Ogunseinde @babatunde140 on the red carpet with a @mac_ohlarb_studios backdrop (our official photographer that year)

This conversation is one I can’t get enough of. I sat with the indefatigable Comrade Jeje Ibukun @ibukun_jeje to talk extensively about Omoyele Sowore, Peter Obi, Labor Party, Seyi Makinde, Sunday Oni and Oyo State politics in general and it was 🤐🤐🤐🤐

It’s showing live now on AFOUDA SAMUEL YouTube Channel (link in bio)

Femi Emmanuel is the candidate of Labour Party, Oyo State for the Oyo State House of Assembly Election to represent Ibadan Southwest 2. He featured on RANDOM PODCAST a few days ago!

And we have used hms as our model for the planned repurposing of our YouTube contents into e-magazine!

This is an experiment and we will love to know what you think about it.

Do you think it’s beautiful?

Do you enjoy the article, which is like a summary of his interview?

Will you love to have us create something similar for you and/or your brand?

If yes, slide into my DM, let’s talk!

RANDOM is more than just a podcast! Keep your fingers crossed!

This is an OPINION poll!

Since I started talking politics on RANDOM PODCAST, a few young and middle aged persons have casually mentioned to me how they would have loved to engage in politics if not for how the present political terrain is structured.

So I really want to know, if not that politics is what it is in present day Nigeria, would you love to participate?

YES OR NO? by @afoudasamuel
