I was so excited to actually finish this jumper with enough time to make use of it for the Australian Winter! ❄️

I simplified this pattern to suit my purposes, removing all the pockets on the original pattern then adding my own kangaroo pocket on the front 🦘. I also made the sleeves longer and cuffed them with elastic.

If you are wondering if this fabric is tricky to sew with the answer is ✨YES✨. I had to give this fabric a haircut on several edges to allow me to get the zipper in 😂.

I made a thing!!

The #ArvoDress from @sewlikeshop might be my new favourite dress pattern 👀😍 (pattern releasing very soon, I was lucky enough to be a pattern tester).

Crafted this one from a doona cover I got from the op shop, I am so excited with how it turned out! It was suppose to be a toile to work out fit that I wasn’t even planning to finish.

I can’t wait to make another one!!

P.S. It has pockets!!

These might just be my favourite PJs ever?!? 😴

Happy Pattern Release Day to @SewLikeShop! 🙌
It was a pleasure to be involved in the testing process of these beauties.
The inspo behind this sewing pattern is pajamas that are passable for school drop off 😂. I’m not sure this fabric choice would be my pick for an incognito pjs in public outfit, but I did already try out the top with some denim shorts for school drop off and it’s a big tick from me (swipe to see!) ✅

My favourite things about this pattern:
- I love this wide neckline!!
- easy to sew neckline facing (much easier than bias tape necklines imo)
- the bottom edge of shirt is enclosed using a facing instead of a traditional hemming (first time I’ve used a method like this)
- neat and sturdy button placket
- i love that it’s a button up top without a suffocating neckline
- super comfy shorts
- the instructions are next level 🤌, @sewlike has incredible attention to detail and every one of her patterns is crafted with love and care, and this one is no exception!

My version:
- top is a size 12
- bottoms are a size 16
- I’d like to make the top a smidge longer next time
- I’m planning to sew a couple patch pockets on the back of the shorts to make them elite 💯 (optional patch pockets included in the sewing pattern!)

Happy Release Day to the #marlomimito Trousers by @ateliermimito!

I had the pleasure of testing this beautiful pants pattern, and it truly was a joy. Why you ask? Two words. FRENCH SEAMS. This pattern has in built French seam instructions. I did know French seams on a garment with inseam pockets would be possible for me. But here we are! So for a trouser pattern that is beautiful inside and out, literally, I cannot help but recommend you check out this one.

For some reason I completely forgot to post this beauty to my grid! I think it’s because I fully intended on properly hemming the bottom. And then never did. Because the hem of the skirt is honestly so far from my face I never notice it. Visible overlocked hem it is!

This dress is a joy to wear! I would have never chosen rayon fabric to sew with due to the fear deep in my soul of slippery fabrics (this fabric was a kind birthday gift from some dear friends of mine). However, I would 1000000% sew with rayon again because of this stunning result. An easy to throw on, flowy and fun dress? Yes please!

I’d like to introduce my bubble gum, bright and happy take on the @maidenmarydesigns Rosie Utility Suit!

Simultaneously delighted and terrified to be accepted as one of her pattern testers, I raided my fabric stash and took on the task of sewing my own jumpsuit 🫣. I did a sneaky mockup on my phone because colour blocking scares me and hoped for the best.

Fabric: @Spotlight Cotton Twill and Broadcloth - leftover fabric from the @whistleandtrick outfits I made my kids! I look like a weird and wonderful whistle and trick hybrid in this.

Zipper: Voodoo Bag Hardware 80cm double slide bag zipper from Zig Zag Sewing Store

Pattern: #rosieutilitysuit A fantastic pattern, the fit of this is just perfection for people who like to be comfy and to move around throughout their day (eg: chasing toddlers), it comes with such detailed and helpful instructions for adjusting the pattern for your body type (crucial for a jumpsuit to fit right!). Also, POCKETS. Wholeheartedly recommend!

Mods:
I chose to sew a size 12 but graded to a 16 at the waist. With help from the instructions in the pattern I reduced the length of the bodice by 3” front and back. I also extended the front crotch curve so it looked less like my crotch was trying to eat the fabric.

Cost: $8 - new zipper, fabric was scraps, pattern was gifted, thread was leftover, interfacing cost is probably 10c

I would LOVE to make this jumpsuit in a more low key fabric like a lovely neutral or chocolate brown, and wear it casually all the time!

Happy release day to the #sewingtherapyfauxcollar pattern!!

There is a special kind of genius behind this unique but simple design. I LOVE the faux collar that is secured at the shoulder seam. It is the perfect gateway project for anyone wanting to try a collar for the first time! No rigamarole of a back yoke, full collar, and tricky easing it in. The sleeves are also attached without any “easing it in,” and are such a comfortable and flattering oversized shape. I also enjoyed the fully enclosed nature of the button placket, keeping the interfacing completely hidden, and preventing the issue of the button placket facing from getting bunched up in the wash. Well done @yoursara_k on another brilliant design! A joy to pattern test this unique and beautiful top.

Fabric: all secondhand! I think the grey and blue double gauze are from @upcyclenewcastle and the mustard is upcycled from my childrens’ swaddle from when they were little babies! (Swipe for an image of it in its past life 🤣). Super special to bring this little reminder of the baby era with me, instead of having to regift/donate everything.
