Couple years ago I started to draw on the sand with a rake. And it got me thinking about the relation with consequences of our acts in relation with freedom. When I do those drawings I cannot be more free, the canvas is as big as I wish and the next day everything I did will be erased by the sea. Also it’s free and I it’s not for sale, so when I do those I feel completely free of doing whatever I want. On the other hand when I take a picture there’s a whole chain of events that follows that each have there own consequences (developing, printing, price of the film, chemicals, …) and I realize I’m then creating with way less freedom. So for me this is the whole dilemma: how do I preserve my freedom knowing my actions have immediate consequences on the futur ?
That’s all I have to say, hope you enjoy the pictures.
