If you have to ask yourself whether a friend truly cares then that’s not a friend. A friend that only reaches out when they need something is not a friend. A friend that only takes and doesn’t give is not a friend. A friend who belittles you in public but treats you with respect in private while giving you scraps is not a friend. A friend who makes you feel drained physically and emotionally when you are around them is NOT a friend. A friend who doesn’t listen but only talks and when you try to talk they cut you off and turn the subject to themselves is not a friend. The list goes on and on. Some people have an inferiority complex. They stick around because they want something from you. They stick around waiting for you to fail because when a hero falls the cowards rejoice. They are, as my late grandmother would say, green snake in a green grass. They will bite you when they get a chance. Best way to deal with them is to cut the head metaphorically speaking, which means just sever the bond. Free yourself from emotional leaches. They are friends who feed off your empathy and take advantage of your kindness. The one who will make you feel guilty as soon as you set boundaries. The one who abandons you when you are in need but always relies on you when they need help. by @afrinvent

On my evening ride I was able to visit the women’s garden and the Bakau fire station. The women’s garden’s borehole issues will be sorted out before the rainy season stops inshallah. I will bring a technician to fix all their problems without fail. The fire station however is a sad case. In other countries the chief of the fire station is a very highly decorated official. He or she has the fascility to back the title of chief. They are the first responders. They put their lives at risk to save ours. People leave their babies at their door step because they know the baby will be safe there. They cut people out when they are trapped. They pull kids out when they are stuck. They RESCUE. So imagine my surprise when I visited them on my ride, they welcomed me with open arms and we sat in a circle talking from the heart. They have only one fire truck donated by the British fire brigade but it only takes two people and cannot even carry gear. The whole place leaks during the rains even the offices but most importantly the living quarters. Where we sat was the training grounds, it wasn’t even paved. Or the pavement was so old that it just looks like gravel. How do you expect them to save lives when they themselves are in need! by @afrinvent

It was an honor and a blessing to be able to visit the children at Nemasu Care. It was a humbling experience to see kids who have been abused due to their disabilities saved by this organization. Allah azzawajal provided for them, I was just the transporter of goods.
Hoping to return soon to help build them swings, benches and other fun stuff. Stay tuned! by @afrinvent
