Hi! I’m Marina 🐆

I’m chasing my childhood dream and building my adult dream at the exact same time. Learning as I go, starting from the ground up, and choosing myself a little later than planned.

Better late than never, right? ✨

If you’re starting again, thinking about it, or just need to see someone else do it first — you’re in the right place.

I’d love to know — what’s the thing you keep putting off? 💭

I know I’m 1 in a billion actors and I know my agent’s world doesn’t revolve around me.

But mine does 🌍 So I do what I can to create opportunities for myself.

A few friends found this helpful so I shared it with them. Maybe others will too?

Comment “OUTREACH” and I’ll send you my exact prompt to create the Casting Director Outreach file 👩🏽‍💻

When you bring home more than just magical @marksandspencer memories… 😆❄️❄️❄️ #frostythefroman #snowfordays

So grateful to have had the opportunity to play “Mum” in the M&S Christmas Ad with the most incredible cast mates. 2024 is definitely year for putting myself out there and saying Yes 🫶🏽

Turns out 15 years in corporate marketing was actually the beginning of my acting journey.

Comment CAREER for the tools I’m using to take control of my acting career x

Did I just play unpaid background extra for her audition? 😩😩😩

The audition lasted 3 minutes. The overthinking lasts 3 business days

Miss being in the room? 15 years in corporate taught me to open my own doors.

I hear so many actors say they miss being in the room. I never got that chance because I’ve started acting this year. But my years in corporate taught me the importance of relationship building.

Everything’s a self-tape now. So what’s stopping you from connecting to industry people IRL?

Auditions might be on your phone, but industry people are still in rooms.
Screenings, panel talks, events. Nobody is stopping you walking into those.

Email outreach and sharing your showreel is important. So is meeting someone, and them remembering your name. It’s how a relationship starts.

Being in the industry means getting to know the people in it. Producers, writers and casting directors.

I went to a @breakthroughactors event last week and they were all there. Saying hello in person is so much more meaningful than over email.

If someone’s work impressed you, tell them and leave your details. Find out which events they’re going to and go to those. Ask a question at the panel. Say hello after.

Which room are you walking into next?

Fifth time this casting director called me in and I’d already decided she was just seeing everyone.

Wrong. My agent rang and told me she gets 10,000 applications per job. She does not have time to sift through that many people. If she keeps asking for you, she’s stopped auditioning you and started finalising.

Drank my hormone coffee to level my mood, reframed my approach to, ‘I’m just going in to cement myself on this casting director’s radar’, went in and did the work.

Booked it! Off to Romania next week to film!

Ring your agent when you’re spiralling. Do the weird ritual to keep sane. Keep showing up even when you feel ‘meh’.

The real challenge is to keep going when things get tough x
