Yellowbird has been a labor of love since 2018, when Tsvet lost her dad unexpectedly overseas. She wasn’t able to go home to say goodbye, so we started work on this film instead.
After applying to several grants (that we did not get), we heard about a first-year program looking for short film ideas, HBO Max x Warner Bros. Discovery Access Animated Shorts Program. We pitched with all the materials we had made up to that point, and ultimately, they asked us to join.
We are incredibly lucky to be one of the eight teams selected for this year's projects. This was an all-encompassing last year that pushed us past the edge of what we thought we could do, and we did it with some of the most talented and kind people on the planet.
It was made with a lot of love and we really hope you will check out what we’ve made when "Only You: An Animated Shorts Collection" comes out on HBOMax next Wednesday, March 23rd.

Easily my favorite city to paint. A background concept based on my memory of working in an architecture studio in Lower Manhattan and taking breaks on the rooftop.

Thank you to @_jasminlai for your support and feedback. Your @warriorartcamp workshop is invaluable. 💙✨🙏 by @aftermananimation

𝗞𝘂𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸. 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁. 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼-𝗚.

New film for @youtube x @delta Air Lines celebrating YouTube Premium on select Sync Wi-Fi flights!

NOMINT directing team @aftermananimation sent a zenned-out capybara slow-mo reindeer-galloping through a fully CG flight cabin while relics of creator culture drifted by in one unbroken shot of full snowglobe ASMR.

Set to 𝘽𝙡𝙪𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙪𝙗𝙚 𝙒𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙯. Basically 𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟭: 𝘼 𝙎𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙊𝙙𝙮𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙮, just massively snugglier.

Huge love to YouTube Creative Studio and everyone who helped on this one.

Capybaras forever! ✊❤️

Another Yellowbird background projection breakdown 🎬🔨

This real-life city block in uptown New York was modeled using Google Earth data 🌎

Lit and rendered in 3D then masterfully painted by @_lea.pinto_ 🎨

Menoua Dersookiasian created the projection ⚡

We used a combination of 2D illustration over 3D to design Yana’s model and create a character style and workflow we could use for the rest of the characters in Yellowbird ✨🎨

A look inside the projection process for the office background in Yellowbird 🐤

We designed the set in 3D then passed it to @michal_sawtyruk to paint and Menoua Dersookiasian for projection 💪💪💪

Congrats to the 2024 Annie Award nominees! 🎬✨

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since we found out Yellowbird was nominated for two Annie Awards. Seeing the announcements today brought back all the shock and joy.

Yellowbird gave us so much—introducing us to incredible collaborators, lifelong friends, and the amazing @n0m1nt family. We’re so grateful this project came to life and can’t wait to share more of its making in the weeks ahead.

Happy holidays! 🎄❤️
