"Resistance must continue." Jon Cink

At a recent event about direct action, action taker Audrey Corno reflects on the words of Palestine Action prisoner and former hunger striker Jon Cink, reminding us that our prisoners should be a reason for us to escalate;

to take upon ourselves, as T. Hoxha once said, the very idea that the state punished them for.

Until our purpose of a liberated Palestine is realised, resistance must continue.

Against Apathy 003 ~ Towards Direct Action ~ TOMORROW

We will hear from 8 individuals involved in direct action in different ways and for different struggles. Speakers will not be publicised prior to the event given the risk of criminalisation and doxxing.

After the speakers, we have an hour for meeting others, talking, idea sharing and planning how we can all take one or a few steps to get more involved in various struggles through direct action, or how to learn from direct action principles even if we are not able to be involved.

@bloodynura will finish off with some tunes 🐦‍🔥

@maqambooks and @septhebrand selling throughout the event, with food and drink by @ridleyroadsocialclubkitchen all night.

All ticket profit will go towards an individual’s legal fund and @directactiontraininguk ✊🏼

London Based event series Against Apathy is bringing people together to mobilise and get activated.

Our ALTN member and activist @tigx__ is bringing @against.apathy here in Berlin and we’re kicking off our 90mil festival with this session!

Taking action for liberation!
Our session will bring activists, community builders and creatives to share their personal experiences and grassroots work, followed by small-group discussions.

The event aims to build connections, define collective skills and create networks of solidarity and inspire each participant to leave with one concrete action to become more involved.

Against Apathy // 003 ~ Towards Direct Action

14th July, 18:30-21:30 @ridleyroadsocialclub

Against Apathy is an event bringing people together to mobilise, get activated, meet others and realise that we all have a role to play in creating change and resisting. This edition will focus on direct action, for various causes.

The event will feature 8 individuals actively involved in direct action in many different ways, spaces and formats, who will share a bit about what they do and how it might be possible to get involved.

Speakers TBA.

We will then break into small groups to get to know each other, discuss how we could use our own skills to do more or get active in new ways, and learn more.

This will be followed by music, and there will be food and drinks available all night from Ridley Road Social Club kitchen. The event will also be a fundraiser (pay what you feel tickets, suggested price £10).

No words for how powerful, inspiring and beautiful Against Apathy 002 was. We all left with lots more knowledge on how to resist gentrification and landlordism in many different ways, and new connections who we hope will become future camarades in the struggle ❤️‍🔥

Against Apathy // 002 ~ Resisting Gentrification & Landlordism

The second edition of Against Apathy brings us more local to think about how we can all get more involved in resisting gentrification and landlordism. The event will focus on Ridley Road, Hackney, and London, but also gentrification on a national and global level.

Eight speakers with different experiences of resisting gentrification and landlordism will share their thoughts and wisdom for the first hour, before we move to break out discussions and time to meet / learn / collaborate with each other.

This will be followed by music, with food and drink provided throughout by @ridleyroadsocialclubkitchen . @maqambooks will be selling a select range of books related to the topic.

A huge thank you to every single person who joined us for Against Apathy 001 // Resisting Zionism & imperialism.

From speakers to hosts (big up @ridleyroadsocialclubkitchen & @ursulasam ) to audience and organisers and tech support (shout out @ibtesamx & crew), the event would not have been the same without you.

We all have a role to play in resistance - and we will all do it better if we do it together. So much wisdom shared last night, and we’ve had many messages saying people are feeling motivated and inspired by all the incredible speakers.

This is only the beginning. Stay tuned for Against Apathy // 002 🐦‍🔥
