Sold 🦪original painting! Thank you @rob.metcalf & @soneeezy

I have made 6 giclèe prints of this oyster in 11x14 including a white border that are ready to pop into a frame. Willing to have more prints made on a demand basis!

For those that don’t know, giclèe is a type of printing that involves pigment (the same pigment used in paint) as opposed to regular old printer ink. It is more costly, but the quality of the image is more lustrous. It is scanned as opposed to photographed to capture every detail. The prints themselves generally increase in value over time as they have better longevity than traditional ink printing. The paper quality is also spectacular.

Today was a milestone. I sold my first commissioned painting! I’ll admit, it took me an exorbitant amount of time. Most of which was not spent painting, but staring at it, walking away, avoiding it, and psyching myself out that I wasn’t good enough to even bother finishing. Thankfully, my friend was @kmichaud is patient and kind. (Seriously, thanks again.🤣)

I’m turning 30 in a few days, and I’ve been throwing a pity party for a few weeks now. I keep telling myself I should have accomplished more by now. I might not be rich, with all my boxes checked, or even have my student loans paid off. BUT, I sold my first (of hopefully many) painting BEFORE 30. I took a leap of faith on myself.. which I will tell you is really hard. And hopefully I started a long and lovely journey full of more creative endeavors like this one. 😘

Welcome to my new page for all of my endeavors as an artist! Thank you for following me, while I bumble through what it means to share a part of myself I never normally shared before. Art has always been an important part of my life. I’ve been drawing and painting since I was a child. I always thought I had to make money, so when it came time to go to college, I decided to study Medical Microbiology at UNH instead of accepting my scholarship to art school. Even after I graduated with my “pre-med” degree, I took a month (and a fat loan out) to go to Italy, where I took a class oil painting plein air in the Italian countryside. I have leaned into it recently in a new light. I’m tired of caring about being “successful” in a measure that other people accept. I’m tired of being a server to pay down the student debt of a degree I didn’t end up using for medical school (turns out I don’t like blood 🤷🏼‍♀️). It took time to come to accept that life is way too short to stay in a job that brings you down, simply for the money. It is definitely the scariest choice I’ve ever made for myself, and who knows where I’ll end up. But here you will find me giving it an honest shot.

I will be accepting commissioned work after the holidays (currently booked up, in awe), and I will be posting pieces I paint for sale here as well. Here goes nothing!
