Today you’d be turning 68. You had your birthday planned out, guest list made, catering picked, but your life was taken from us too soon.

This year, we celebrate your life with heavy hearts and empty arms, but in the comforting presence of those who loved you most.

June 13th will forever be one of the hardest days of my life, the day I lost the greatest father I could have ever asked for.

Saying goodbye to you on Father’s Day feels painfully fitting, like the kind of poetic timing you would have appreciated. You always loved a good story, and somehow this became part of ours. I miss you more than words can say.

My heart aches knowing you won’t be here for the moments I always imagined you’d be part of. But I find some peace in knowing you’re finally resting easy.

One of your biggest wishes was to walk me down the aisle, and not only did you get to do that, you gave us the gift of another year together afterward. I’ll always be thankful for that.

There are many things I regret in my short life, but the one that weighs the heaviest is not telling you how much I love you more often.

My heart feels shattered into a million pieces, and I wish more than anything that you were here to help me put it back together, just like you always used to.

I love you, Dad. Always.

Sledding into your feed like 🐾

Day 3: the aurora cannot be beat, but we have more fun and thrilling activities scheduled for today! What are they you may ask? Well, none other than dog sledding and cold plunging in a frozen river!

We started the day slow, walked around town, did some shopping, we purchased a painting from a local artist and scoped out the best coffee in town by @campfirebarista.

We had our next activity at @tundrahusky, we got picked up at a meeting point in town and were driven out to their facility where they house 80 huskies in training and retired. Some of the sweetest dogs I have ever seen, however, when they are in work mode you do not want to interrupt them. After a brief instruction, we headed out on the sled, Blake drove it, of course. We finished the activity with a fire in a hut with warm juice and hotdogs.

The Aurora was a Paid Actor 💚

Day 2: What a day! From an overnight ride on the Christmas Express to witnessing the aurora borealis in full force, everything was pure magic.

We woke up in our sleeper cabins, had breakfast in the train’s restaurant, and soon arrived in Rovaniemi. But our journey wasn’t over yet—we still had a 2-hour bus ride to our final destination, Sirkka.

Before heading out, we made a quick stop at Santa Claus Village, a perfect spot for families. With glass-roof bungalows, reindeer & husky experiences, and even go-karting, it’s Lapland at its most luxurious. After exploring, we grabbed lunch in town and caught our bus north.
Our stay at Hotel Hullu Poro was perfect—ski-in, ski-out and just a short walk from everything. But the real adventure was just beginning: aurora hunting!

We booked a snowmobile tour with Tokka, and luck was on our side—not only was the sky perfectly clear, but we also had a private tour! Our amazing guide, Mimi, led us deep into the wilderness, where a warm fire, hot juice, and roasted marshmallows awaited. Then, as the night set in, the sky erupted in glowing green waves—an unforgettable sight.

Tips:
✔️ The aurora won’t be visible if it’s cloudy—check the weather before booking! I use the app my aurora forecast and alerts to see probabilities of sight and cloud patterns. ✔️ Light pollution in town makes it harder to see—a guided tour gives you the best chance! ✔️ Highly recommend Tokka for an incredible experience!
