come rain or come shine
bring your cheer, a suitcase, yourself
and I promise you’ll be in for a time.
hop in a car filled with conversation and music,
and at times silence will flow.
the map will declare the destination as we go.
we’ll exchange hugs and hellos as we unpack our things.
unraveling and unwinding after a long, endless drive
we’ll talk until dawn and still rise with the tide
coffee in hand, a Bible in mine
we’ll laugh in the evening and dine in the night
chili flakes in pasta, mashed potato on the fly, and apples sliced nice
we’ll gather by the tv, entertainment before our eyes
football and games, portraits drawn poorly, uno unfolds, my head on your shoulder, so many new stories to bring home
I love every second, even every minute on the road
each day bringing new jokes.
new adventures. new steeples. new folks.
the journey I’ll relish, what a time that we shared, dear South Carolina nothing else can compare. we jumped into cold water, with sand salting the air. the sky it was dazzling and dotted above. Oh I praise the God who brought me closer to such joy, and such love. I’ll think of this time fondly, though I’m sad we have to go, still I’ll savor each moment. all the highs and every low. by @aggies.cup

recently I’ve noticed how the nostalgia creeps in. in the middle of a good conversation, were words hold meaning, but even more they hold memories. waking up and seeing the sun say hi. hugging a friend who you haven’t see in a while. turning in an assignment. buying a little treat. experiencing something that you thought would be awful, but it turned out just fine.
I mean the way sitting on a random bench overlooking a busy street makes you consider life outside your own. where are you headed to? home? a class that starts sooner than you expected? to catch up with a friend? to get coffee? to cry? everyone, everywhere, all headed in some direction. physically, and prospectively.
sometimes I talk with my friends without a worry in my mind. because I’m here, and they are too and the last thing on our minds is leaving this comfortable, safe space we’ve created. so we settle into our small little corner of the world and talk without limit. about troubles, aspirations, and what we had for breakfast. we say goodbye, hopeful to return to our little corner soon. and I think. this! this is what makes living worthwhile. for the grand and wonderful, yes! but also for the simple and mundane. the basic things we get to experience day by day. and maybe I’m simply too sappy and I read into getting a cup of coffee a little too much. but truly, it’s that warm feeling you get. the same way that the heat from my mug puts me at ease, so do those little moments. realizing, at some point, I’ll reached the bottom of my cup. how I’ve tasted and seen, and for a second I’m sad, knowing that it’s come to an end, but that didn’t make me enjoy the experience any less. it was still good.
the moon will still say goodnight. I’ll have another assignment waiting for me. I won’t see my friend until I’m back in my hometown.
and I cannot wait.

life is moment and after moment, beginning after beginning, end after end. good. awful. insane.
it’s experienced. lived out. explored.
it fills my cup. by @aggies.cup

I have strayed from the shadow of your wing

allow me to reminisce about 2023 once more 💌
suddenly I’m recounting all the wild wild ways this year has come about. my hair is different, my heart is bigger, and my sweet little life has blossomed all the more.
I’ve been angry in ways I didn’t think were possible! and I smiled so much my cheeks hurt, which I did not think would ever be true of me. I have lost my weight in tears cried and gained my weight in many, many memories and wonderful friends made.

God reveals Himself slowly, taking up the full course of one’s life. As I say goodbye to 2023 and venture into 2024, let me not forget Matthew 6:33-34: ”But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.‭‭”

If God has made your cup sweet, drink it with grace; or even if He has made it bitter, drink it in communion with Him. If the providential will of God means a hard and difficult time for you, go through it…

home is not found in a place, but rather people

home is a safe, exciting and sweet thing. a place may contain the people you call home. And where ever they go, it beckons the heart closer. Tension releases from your shoulders and you’re able to come as you are: perhaps tired, perhaps anxious, perhaps joyful. it’s an invitation to be unfiltered.
Thank you UT for showing me that the people who surround me are far more impactful in defining what “home” is than the buildings that tower over me.

Indescribable joy fills me. My cup overflows! 💐💕

We partied till our tea cups were empty and our shirts were sweat completely through. Flower crowns were made and spike ball was dominated 😤‼️ This is a day I will never forget.

What a community God has surrounded me with. Our paths may differ, but what matters is we ended up here. In an exact spot, at an exact time, and we haven’t been the same since. I believe we will meet again, somehow, some way, somewhere. As we say goodbye, and our hugs linger just a little longer, may our hearts grow fonder. To love God is to love others and count them greater than yourself.
