somebody’s gotta hold it down in hong kong🤪 a day filled with childlike wonder🧚

if you know me, you know i LOVE disney & going to disneyland. something about hong kong disney felt so familiar and nostalgic, probably because it was such a big part of our childhood! every ride would get comments of “wow i remember this” “i love this” or “oh this changed!” and it just made me savour the special feeling in revisiting childhood places as an adult

this is a reminder to never lose your inner child no matter how much the world tries to force you to 🥹

if you’ve lived away from home you’ll know exactly what i mean when i say this: holidays make the grief & guilt from being away a little stronger, and you suddenly feel a little bit lonelier

one of the hardest things for me when living overseas was finding little ways to honour my culture, and celebrate holidays the way I used to. for mid autumn that meant family dinners, running around with lanterns, hotpot with friends, eating mooncakes; and it was hard to replicate the same activities in an environment that does not necessarily celebrate your culture.

so, coming back and being able to experience the joy of mid autumn has been very special for me, and i couldn’t help but bathe in the familiarity and nostalgia this day has brought me🌕✨ i’m sure i will be feeling more moments like this as i get to relive hong kong holidays as an adult!

to those away from home: YOU ARE NOT ALONE. maybe knowing that we are all under the same moon will give you a little bit of comfort. 💛

just a lil reflection 2 months into moving home after being away for 12 years💭 pause to read!

the more i’m exposed to things that shaped me, whether that be relationships, experiences, or places, it forces me to contrast my past-self to my present-self, and how I’ve unknowingly changed so much.

for anyone who has moved home recently, don’t forgot to celebrate how far you’ve come❤️

moving home means doing life with hometown friends again! from our teenage secondary school years to adulthood 👯‍♀️

long-distance friendship isn’t easy — whatsapping whenever we have time, trying to catch each other up on the last months / years of life, cramming all the things to do together in one summer, visiting each others’ new homes, coordinating trips that end up not coming into fruition, knowing that we will go a while without seeing each other again.

suddenly, time together feels infinite, because what do you mean this is us on a random friday?
