🇺🇳🇨🇩 Today marks a historic moment for the Democratic Republic of the Congo!

After 30 years, we are proud to have been elected with 183 votes to return to the United Nations Security Council.

This is more than a diplomatic achievement — it’s our moment to actively shape global peace and security. Of course, at the heart of our engagement is the ongoing conflict in eastern DRC — a challenge that demands urgent and sustained international attention. But our role as a non-permanent member extends beyond our national borders. As part of the A3+, we are committed to advancing the African continent’s voice and priorities on the world stage.

Over the next two years, our work on the Council will focus on:
🔹 Promoting inclusive and responsible natural resource management
🔹 Strengthening Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR)
🔹 Supporting peacekeeping reform and the New Agenda for Peace
🔹 Advocating for a revitalized global security system
🔹 Advancing the Women, Peace & Security agenda and youth engagement
🔹 Championing climate action and ecological leadership
🔹 Defending human rights and democratic values

We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to our fellow incoming members: Latvia, Colombia, Bahrain, and Liberia!
