Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) is prioritizing metro expansion, specifically from Agra Cantt Railway Station to Dhauli Gate near Kheria Airport. A new metro station will be constructed 200 meters east of Dhauli Gate. A Rail Over Bridge (ROB) will be built on the New Delhi-Jhansi railway line; UPMRC has submitted the design for approval. The second metro corridor, 16 km long, will run from Agra Cantt Station to Kalindi Vihar and connect with the first corridor at Agra College, with 14 elevated stations. The ROB will be near the Idgah-Kheria ROB. The metro line will connect to the airport, easing passenger travel. The proposal for the metro line to Dhauli Gate has been sent, with design information shared with the railways. A separate tender will be issued for this work, and the entire track will be elevated, increasing the number of stations in the second corridor to 15. To alleviate traffic congestion on MG Road, UPMRC will move barricading back half a meter where pillar excavation is complete. This work began on Tuesday on the 6.5 km stretch from Sadar Bazar Chauraha to Bhagwan Talkies Chauraha, where construction is underway. Eight months of lane closures and the construction of pillars every 28 meters on MG Road cause traffic jams. UPMRC has completed 30 pillars on MG Road and is adjusting barricading. Construction is progressing rapidly on National Highway-19, with the ISBT station being completed first, followed by Guru Ka Tal and Sikandra Tiraha stations. Four rig machines are being used for excavation, which is expected to be completed in eight months. Girders will be placed at night on the highway, closing one lane from 11 PM to 5 AM.
