🤸 Flexibility journey

It’s boring but it works

Trying to get a square front split on both sides. Back foot on the wall keeps you aligned and discourages hip externally rotating. Got some great tips from @flexibilitypixie and @_alexhammer for this and as ever always grateful to @chet_karsan for the intense support and guidance in getting there. 4 years between these shots is a bit off putting but in reality it took 9 months to get decent full splits on one side. It’s a cliche but Consistency really is key.

$It’s been a journey… Lacing up again — for the first time in 3 years 🏃‍♂️💜 In 2020, I tore my ACL and meniscus, fractured my tibia, and it sent me into a dark place. Running had been my life. After surgery and two years of determined rehab, it felt too painful — physically and mentally. I gave up, threw my running watch in a drawer, and drifted from the running community. I turned to yoga, became a teacher, and found a new tribe. But deep down, I missed running. Eventually, I wasn’t sure if it would still hurt — but I didn’t dare to try. This weekend, I’m facing that fear and running 10km at the Great Manchester Run. I’m doing it for @kidneysforlife, a brilliant local charity that supported my kidney research and helps the patients I care for every day. Their encouragement over the years has meant more than they know. If you’re able to donate, I’d be so grateful. Every contribution supports life-changing kidney research. 👉 Link in bio #GreatManchesterRun #KidneysForLife #ACLRecovery #ComebackRun #KidneyResearch #YogisWhoRun #YogaTeacher #InjuredRunner #kidneydoctor #yogi by @ags.odudu$

An incredible wellness retreat @iamtommyfordham was the biggest surprise!

I actually had to have a lie down afterwards my brain was exploding with emotion, ideas, inspiration and memories. @iamtommyfordham has ADHD and autism and says he struggles to relate with people but you could rarely meet a more charismatic human being. I couldn’t decide where to start or finish in reflecting on his story. He reminded me of my humble background the sacrifice of my parents, he became a millionaire in his twenties he lost it all and started again. He stayed true to himself he fiercely loves and protects his family. He believes in the power of crystals, he believes in himself and the power of unshakable belief. Love is stronger than hate.

I could mention his multimillion businesses and brands. I bought a pair of @ctrne_world trainers, but nothing beats the in person experience.

@iamtommyfordham you are a gent 🙏🏾
Thankyou @aprildawnwild for your conversation and questions
@wildandwildevents @centreofexcellence.co @juicemasterretreats for a retreat that will stay with me for life
@jasonvale for getting @iamtommyfordham to leave that boat, skip the investor meeting and spend a few days with us

Dialled In

I’ve made some intentional changes over the last few months.
It started with training differently, but I don’t think it’s really about training.

For a while I was burned out and then recovering. Just getting through it. There was a period where that was what I needed. Lately, I’ve felt a shift, a lightness, the energy is returning!
I’ve started training early in the mornings again. I’ve got new coaches who help me to be accountable. I’m reflecting on how I spend my time conscious of my mortality I think working around so much death and disability does that to you.

I’ve put myself forward for opportunities I didn’t get. That’s never comfortable, but it forced me to be honest with myself. Zygotsky called it the “zone of professional development “. I’ll just call it “the zone “.

On 6 August I’ll have been in the NHS for 25 years so maybe that’s where all this reflection is coming from.
I’ve been asking myself some uncomfortable questions lately.
Am I showing up in the way I want to?
Am I living my values?
Am I becoming the person I want to be?
I don’t have all the answers.
What I do know is that I probably have another 20-25 years work ahead of me (if I’m lucky with health) and I don’t want to spend them going through the motions.
It’s a scary time but also exciting! by @ags.odudu
