~O U R S T O R Y~
Speed the Light is the student-initiated, volunteer, charitable program that provides much-needed equipment to missionaries across the nation and in over 180 countries around the world.
•
It began in 1944 after Ralph Harris, then head of the National Youth Ministries department, prayed for a way to give Assemblies of God students the opportunity to help missionaries in their work.
Nearly 75 years later, Speed the Light is one of the most effective youth missions ministries in existence. Since its beginning, over $300 million has been raised for missionary equipment around the world. And, Speed the Light is still helping to disciple students to live a life of generosity as they become personally responsible for the mission of God by helping our missionaries make Jesus known throughout the world.
•
Consider coming partnering with us and youth all around the world to reach the ends of the earth.

Thank you for our Speed the Light vehicle. It is a 2025 VW Caddy Kombi which works great for my unique situation. I am able to store my mobility scooter in the back. As the snow began to pile up this evening, we were so thankful to have this car…a tremendous blessing! by @agspeedthelight

We want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to every student across Wisconsin and Northern Michigan who gave to Speed the Light this past year. Your generosity has made a real, tangible impact on the Menominee Reservation. Because of your giving, we were able to purchase a 2015 Chevy Traverse this summer—an eight-passenger vehicle that has already become an essential part of our ministry.
One of the very first ways we were able to use this vehicle was by loading it with supplies and driving to the Lac Courte Oreilles (LCO) Reservation to help host a kids’ VBS outreach with Harvest Time Church out of Eau Claire. During that trip, we also had the privilege of training a few teens on how to reach and minister to the children in their own community. That experience not only blessed the kids we served , helped connect a local church to a reservation nearby, but also helped equip young Native leaders to share the love of Jesus where they live.
This vehicle isn’t just a means of transportation; it has become a tool for real ministry and real hope. We’ve used it to help individuals experiencing homelessness, making sure they have rides to safe places and essential services, the Traverse is also used on a regular basis to pick people up for Sunday morning service helping us reach those who might otherwise have no way to attend.
But the most exciting part is what God is doing among our youth. In October, our church launched its first youth group in 45 years. Since day one, this Speed the Light vehicle has been picking up teens each week, some in which do not attend church, and bringing them to a place where they can hear the gospel, build friendships, and encounter Jesus.
Students—thank you. Your giving made this possible. You are part of every life that is being changed.

Thank you again for investing and partnering with our Ministry,

For 4 & half years, SLAM has been selling energy drinks to raise money for Speed The Light.

In that time, they’ve raised over ten thousand dollars.

By simply making tasty and caffeinated drinks, they are helping missionaries spread God’s love all over the world.

$15,000!!!

That’s how much Bethel YTH of Wetumpka, AL has already raised this year for Speed the Light 🙌

How?! Students stepped up and used their talents—walk-a-thons, cooking, baking, wood carving, wreath making, and more.

Because these students said yes, the Gospel and God’s love are being sent around the world 🌍

Fam—as we head into Christmas break and close out 2025, it’s time to start dreaming BIG.
