My mom worked at Old Second National Bank for 54 years and retired on Friday. So, this past weekend we celebrated her and all those years with friends and family. As most know, we love music, and we love finding new bands and new music. @winstonsurfshirt was a Spotify recommendation last year and I instantly fell in love with the new album. I listened to it nonstop and we were so excited to hear they were doing a small North American tour. Seeing them in San Diego last weekend was so much of what we love about live music. The guys are so fun and we can’t wait to see them in Australia someday.

In honor of 10 years of attending Life is Beautiful and not attending this year. Here is a snapshot of the music festival that gave us so much. Years of music, food, art and so many memories. I am not sure anything will ever compare.

@tedthegirldog is 6 months today! She has filled our home with energy, laughs and a lot of squeaks. We didn’t know if we were ready to get a new dog but we are glad we did. We love seeing her personality grow and seeing similarities to Skip and Cilla. She was meant to be a part of our little family and we love her to bits.

For the past 4 1/2 months our home has felt empty. We missed Cilla and Skip and grieved for what the past 16 years had been. We always knew we would get another dog but didn’t know when. Over the last couple weeks things fell into place and this past Sunday we met and brought her home. Welcome home Ted! In July of 2008 I was laid off from a design job that I loved and felt so lost on what was to come. A week later, Alan told me we were being gifted a 1 year old Jack Russell. We met Skipper the next day and took him home. We instantly connected. He loved me and “protected” me. He filled our house with love and laugher. He was a big personality in a tiny dog. His playful barks, little cries and moans will be parts of him we will always remember. I am grateful for every single moment I spent with him.

He had quite the journey since we lost Pricilla. A lot of traveling (he was meant to be a winery dog), a stroke that he fully recovered from and a 16th birthday party that we never thought would happen. Though, we knew he was getting older and things had been getting more difficult these past few months.

Friday around 8pm skipper passed away in my arms. It had been a hard day and we knew it was time. He, of course, left on his own volition. I was able to tell him how much we loved him while I held him, kiss his forehead and say goodbye.

Skipper was my best friend. My shadow. My yoga buddy. My soulmate. There’s no doubt in my mind that all those years ago we were meant to be placed in each others lives. I feel broken. A part of me is gone and it doesn’t feel right. He will always be our first dog and have so much love for him. Our Bub. #skipper #mrdog #bubby #sir #trots #leaps by @ahottlady
