two years ago, i faced an unexpected turn when I was laid off from my role as head of marketing & operations at samsung. it was a tough loss — i truly loved that job 😢 — but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise 🙏. it gave us 2 precious years at home with @babyemerie, and looking back, I wouldn’t trade that time for anything. also during that period, @ahp.la (Matt) and i kept building our company @getitmade.la ⏩ fast forward to now — the first feature film to come out of our incubator, @plightmovie, directed by Matt and written by @ronsandy.ca (a GET IT MADE member), just had its first screening. we were honored to have @bakermovies and @sammylquan moderate the Q&A, and we’re incredibly grateful for their Oscar-winning stamp of approval and support. 📸: @rms.bts.pix | @gettyimages i never imagined making the leap from brand marketing to indie filmmaking. it has not been easy — we don’t have a big studio behind us or capital for our startup … but at GET IT MADE, we’re passionate about helping storytellers find their people. none of this would have been possible without our incredible friends, family, colleagues, partners, and vendors— those who went the extra mile, gave us discounts, deferred payments, and even worked pro bono. as a team, we self-funded Plight’s first screening because we believe in the mission, to raise awareness about autism in film and tv. i’m lucky to be driven by two incredible missions: helping storytellers get their stories made and championing a social impact cause. Plight was made with love, but against all odds — with an 11-day shooting schedule and no budget for post-production, as a team we helped Ron bring his personal mission to life: a film led by a cast of actors with autism, from concept to the big screen. now we want to take Plight to more cities, host more free screenings and reach even more people. BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP if you feel moved to support, text plight to 44321 or click the link in bio to donate or learn more. 💙 *donations are tax deductible via our fiscal sponsor, 3LD.org/plight #PlightMovie #LightItUpBlue #AutismAwarenessMonth #RepresentationMatters #GETITMADE #IndieFilm taken in Regal Sherman Oaks Galleria by @ahp.la
