M A Z E (1986) MAZE featuring Frankie Beverly - Live In Los Angeles is one of my favorite albums. In a dark period of my life, it was the vitality and message I needed. 7 years ago I purchased this sweater. I received it in on 4/7/14. I never opened it, leaving it protected in the original shipping bag. Why? A future gift to myself. When it was time I would open it. 7 years to the day, a time capsule twice over, the sweater is brand new. The ink is fresh to the touch some 34 years later. Why wait? Delayed gratification has been my greatest ally in my personal journey. Impatience will undue the process of budding; pruning relationships, dreams and aspirations because they don’t match one’s timeline. A mentor shared, “the WEIGHT of WAITING will crush you.” Without the mental fortitude to endure, the spirit will be depleted in the process of waiting, hoping. Or it can be strengthened by the trial and opposition of building the emotional and mental faculties. Heard it before, much of what we think about our situations is from the lens which we peer through. Perceived opposition is just resistance for development. Only you know. Lastly, if I was to be summarized in a single word, MAZE would define me. Know me long enough, it’s less discovery and more of a layered journey, twist and turns and unforeseen encounters. 🌀 “I yam what I yam” -Popeye by @ahumandreaming
