Happy Halloween from the National AI Centre! 🎃

We're taking this opportunity to talk about a spooooooky new phenomenon affecting businesses across the country: BEWARE THE FRANKENSTACK 🧟

ChatGPT here. A meeting notes tool there. A free AI app someone found online. That's how you end up with a Frankenstack: a collection of AI tools stitched together across your organisation, with nobody quite sure what's being used or where the information is going.

Before you add another tool to the monster, stop and take some simple steps:
✓ Take stock of what you've got
✓ Start an AI register
✓ Set some ground rules in an AI policy

Head to ai.gov.au to get started with free, customisable templates for an AI register and AI policy.

Three days. Three very different conversations. One very useful week. 💬

On Tuesday, we hosted the AI Leadership Summit with CEDA — 50+ speakers, big questions about where Australia is at with AI.

On Wednesday, the rooms got smaller. Practical conversations, lots of listening, sleeves rolled up.

On Thursday, we turned the questions back on ourselves. What's working? What's missing? Where can we make the biggest difference?

AI might be the subject matter. But weeks like this remind us — the work is really about people. 🙌 by @ai.gov.au

That's a wrap on day one on of the 2026 AI Leadership Summit! It was packed with insightful discussions, exciting new research and, of course, plenty of high-fives from Roy the Robot 🤖

Thanks to @ceda_news and to everyone who came along and made it such a success.

Stay tuned for more info on key takeaways, next steps, and the new AI resources hitting ai.gov.au 🎉

It's go time. 🚀

The Buy Australian AI Partnership kicked off today, with Stone & Chalk delivering the first National Digital Track masterclass.

Over the next eight weeks, participants will hear directly from industry experts and enterprise partners as they build a better understanding of responsible AI, procurement, compliance and implementation in highly regulated industries.

Building great AI is one thing. Getting it into the hands of customers is another. It's about building trust, making connections and understanding what enterprise customers need.

The journey doesn't end with the Digital Track. In December, 10 companies will be selected to join the Commercial Accelerator, where they'll work directly with enterprise partners on real business challenges when the program begins in February 2027.

Today's takeaway? Australia has some seriously impressive AI businesses. We're looking forward to hearing more of their stories in the weeks ahead. by @ai.gov.au

Up next in the AI Glossary: natural language processing 🗣️💬

How does an AI system understand you? The answer is natural language processing (NLP), the technology that makes AI capable of interpreting the context and meaning behind human language.

Language is messy, and NLP helps AI to untangle it. For example, 'That's sick!' could mean two totally different things depending on context.

So when tools like chatbots, grammar checkers and smart searches interpret your request and help you with a task, you have NLP to thank!

You don't need to be an AI expert to contribute to how your organisation uses AI responsibly. In fact, some of the most useful insights come from people outside the technology team.

Our latest blog shares a practical 'Test your scenario' activity that helps teams explore how they would respond to an AI-related issue before they're dealing with one in real life. It prompts discussion about who needs to be involved, what guidance exists, where responsibilities sit and what gaps might need attention.

Everyone's got an AI story. What's yours?

We're asking organisations across Australia to take part in a survey and share how they're using AI, including what's working, what's not and where you’re seeing value.

The survey is open to Australian organisations, including business of all sizes and not-for-profits.

The more people that participate, the stronger the insights become – so register to take part today at bit.ly/4h5GP5K

Fake or Fact? 🤔

"AI won't work in my industry."

This one's FAKE!

Agriculture. Healthcare. Hospitality. Not-for-profits. All using AI right now.

The question isn't whether AI can work in your industry — it's how to use it in a way that addresses the right challenges, adds value your business, and is safe and responsible.
