“Udagedara’s deployment of flowers occupies two registers. They are quotidian, recalling the presence of blossoms in gardens, religious offerings, and the sensorial experiences of life in the tropics. Yet, much like the Baroque still-lifes of Western Europe, they also command an unsettling excess. Their accumulation produces a superimposition in which individual specimens become difficult to distinguish. Their value, as objects, but also as entropic hinges through which transnational flows are conducted, and violence occurs within, is subject to a questioning of beauty as both intrinsic and universal.” - Excerpt from an essay by @seanify22 Please join us on November 4th, 2026 for the opening of Priyantha Udagedara's second solo exhibition at Aicon Contemporary, ‘Earthly Paradise’. The show will be on view from November 4th 2026 to December 12th, 2026. Priyantha Udagedara Detail View, Earthly Paradise IV, 2026 Mixed media on canvas 54h x 54w in by @aicongallery
Aicon Contemporary wishes our artist Abir Karmakar, a very happy birthday! There is no one quite like you. We hope you have a wonderful year. by @aicongallery
Aicon Contemporary is staying at 35 Great Jones Street, our beloved home in NoHo. A space steeped in history and a block where many great galleries have joined us, since our pioneering move in 2008. On November 12th we’ll be back @artmumbaiofficial, bringing non-Indian art to Indian collectors and institutions. At the just concluded @thearmoryshow 2026 in New York, we presented and placed work by 12 artists from South Asia and the Middle East with new Western collectors. For many of them, their first ever acquisitions of non-western art! In the past year our artists have appeared in museum exhibitions, biennales, major publications, and in the press, while our collector community has grown increasingly global and diverse. We’ve built new ways for artists and collectors to connect, from exhibitions and fairs to our Artist x Collector speaker series. Taconic Arts Center, our sister institution is taking shape as a new home for long-term exhibitions and artist residencies in the bucolic Hudson Valley. And in India — always part of our story — Two1Two Arts will serve as our outpost, making the bridge between our two homes a stronger one. We are staying put, and going places "... the works of Priyantha Udagedara provokes a reconsideration of Sri Lanka, as island, as Nation, as an historically vibrant context that recenters expansive networks of oceanic exchange.” “…Udagedara constructs landscapes in which beauty is inseparable from violence, and nature is a repository of memory, both invented and felt.” - From Sean Anderson's essay "Encounters with Abundance", 2026 Detail from Finding Earthly Paradise III, 2026 Mixed media on canvas 47 Ø by @aicongallery
Upcoming: When The World Enters Your Home is a upcoming solo by T.V. Santhosh at Aicon Contemporary, opening November 4th, 2026. The show will be on view from November 4th 2026 to December 12th, 2026. T.V. Santhosh is a contemporary Indian artist whose practice examines violence, conflict, politics and the manipulation of imagery through mass media. Trained initially in Painting at Kala Bhavana, Vishwa Bharati, Santiniketan, he later earned a Master’s degree in Sculpture from M.S. University, Baroda. Working across painting, sculpture and installation, Santhosh frequently draws from news photography and popular visual culture, transforming contemporary events into psychologically charged, politically reflective works. Santhosh has exhibited extensively at major international institutions and biennales and we are so excited to present his first solo exhibition with Aicon Contemporary, in collaboration with The Guild @theguildartgallery. by @aicongallery

In this particular piece titled ‘He’s not here to give a speech’ we see the leopard, a fierce predator of the wild, posed in a relaxed state. It portrays a duality of movement and stillness together, exuding a sense of quiet confidence. This juxtaposition of stability and shift is at the heart of Staying Put, Going Places. It was a six panel painting capturing Gandhi's adult life, from South Africa to his assassination by the Hindu Nationalist Nathuram Godse. The second of six panels, depicted here, shows Gandhi setting off on the Dandi March to protest the salt tax levied by the British colonial government. M. F. R. Iranna’s solo exhibition at Aicon, “Tempered Branches”. That thoughtfully crafted corner of our gallery, was the dress rehearsal for an appearance at the contemporary art world’s biggest stage. G.
