I heard @yevagabonds play this song back in February and it hasn’t left my heart since. It’s one of those songs that holds so much with so little. Friendship, faithfulness, the urgency and resilience of love in a brief and troubled world. I think I cried 2-3 times while learning it. I will never get tired of art reaching unexpected places in me.

28 was the hardest year of my life.

At a time in life of healing from deep traumas and scars, this year hit me with some of the hardest hurts yet. I have become profoundly aware of how fragile and precious health is. I’m doing my best to hold every little joy that saves us from the inevitable suffering of life as a special gift.

I have often held onto the art of others in my darkest times—artifacts of my fellow feelers and creators. Here are some of my favorites:

Pic 1 - my annual tradition of buying myself birthday flowers
Pic 2 - “Na Sióga Buí” by the wonderfully gifted Conor Campbell
Pic 3 - painting by my beautiful, late aunt Loretta
Pic 4 - “Brú na Bóinne: Newgrange Sunset” by my dear friend Lizzy Sullivan
Pic 5 - painting by my dear friend Hollie Hammen by @aidanjjmeyer

An absolute joy and honor to work with the wonderful @nicgareisslfi ! Nic is a wonderful carrier of traditional music and art, and gifts us so much with both his dance and his loving spirit.

If you enjoy these photos, you should follow his work and try to catch him in performance when you can ✨ by @aidanjjmeyer

Happy St. Patty’s day! Big thanks to the Irish for their traditions of music, spiritual animism, and telling colonialism to fuck off. 🇮🇪 🇵🇸

New post. Some thoughts and feelings on music, African spirituality, and resistance. If we’ve got nothing but music and each other, we’ve got everything. Link in my bio. by @aidanjjmeyer

I spent almost the entirety of this last month sick, in the hospital, or profoundly sleep deprived. Luckily, there is an endless history of people before me who developed traditions and practices to cope with the darkest parts of life, and my fiddle gives me access to some of it.
