Today is our one-year wedding anniversary! It’s been a heavy season as we navigated my mother’s cancer diagnosis alongside campaigning and working. Through it all, Ena met every moment with grace and light. I will love her forever. by @aidansova

WE WON! Last night, the Fourth Ward chose progress and collaborative leadership. We built this people-powered campaign together to deliver real results for our neighborhoods. I offer my deep gratitude and firm promise to faithfully serve every resident as a member of City Council. by @aidansova

My first visit to Ann Arbor was as a boy. Raised by a single mother in poverty, I found even making the trip from the south side of Jackson to be a struggle. But arriving here, I was struck by the beauty, community, and simple fact that other kids were thriving in ways I was not.

That image never left me. The memory motivated everything I did. In 2018, I returned as a first-generation college student at the University of Michigan. I led organizations, worked multiple jobs, and poured myself into service. With every step, my love for Ann Arbor grew deeper.

In 2022, I was elected to the Ann Arbor District Library Board, becoming the youngest Black official elected in city history. We delivered real results: protected programs, expanded resources, and secured a new downtown library—with no new taxes.

Every time I picture our new downtown library, I see a lifeline for anyone in our community who feels underserved. It will be the kind of safe, welcoming space my mother and I once needed. That same spirit of care is what drives my approach to public service.

Having lived in poverty, I know what our working families face. On City Council, I am focused on getting the fundamentals right: providing world-class city services, upgrading our connective infrastructure, and expanding housing options so everyone can afford to live here.

Tomorrow, I humbly ask for your vote for Ann Arbor City Council in the Fourth Ward. I will bring my lived experience and proven track record to foster a community where everyone can belong. I am ready to serve on day one. by @aidansova

Our campaign was overjoyed to march in the Fourth of July parade with 60+ neighbors, volunteers, and friends! Between the bubble machine and passing out goodies, we had so much fun celebrating together. I am incredibly grateful for this community! by @aidansova

🚨 Our very first ad spot is officially live! 🚨 I’m running a grassroots campaign with absolutely zero PAC dollars, so my only priority is working for you. Ann Arbor, let’s turn the page together. by @aidansova

I am incredibly proud to have the support of my friend, Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist! From our life-saving work on his COVID-19 Racial Disparities Task Force to today, it is an honor to join him in standing tall for Ann Arbor and the state of Michigan. Let’s do this! by @aidansova

In April, my mother was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer at the age of forty-six. Over the next many months, she will undergo chemotherapy, surgery, targeted gene therapy, and radiation. This is a path our family will walk together with hope, though we recognize the road ahead will require unwavering care and resilience.

My mother is my greatest inspiration. It was just the two of us weathering my childhood in poverty; our shared success in overcoming those early years defines who I am today. Our bond is unbreakable. My wife and I are committed to being by her side in this next chapter.

These past weeks have been enormously difficult, but the community’s kindness has been a source of strength as we navigate this journey together. We look to my mother’s friends and neighbors in Jackson to be the heartbeat of her daily encouragement; your support means the world. by @aidansova

Our campaign kickoff turnout blew past every expectation, totaling nearly 200 community members with a standing-room-only crowd and line out the door! I’m grateful to every person who joined in the belief that Ann Arbor should be a place for all of us. Let’s get to work. by @aidansova

I was proud to join the fearless Jocelyn Benson in Alabama to march the Edmund Pettus Bridge and honor the civil rights movement. As the youngest Black person elected in Ann Arbor history, I stand on the shoulders of those before me. I carry that courage home to the Fourth Ward. by @aidansova

Early last year, Ena and I bought a house in Ann Arbor! It’s been a joy to connect with our kind neighbors, relax at Esch Park, and live just a short walk from our favorite small businesses. We could not be more grateful. Many thanks to @megan_mazurek for the care throughout the process! by @aidansova

Ena and I are still floating after our wedding in Ann Arbor! There was nothing more special than bringing our favorite people together in the city where our story grew. We will treasure these memories for a lifetime. by @aidansova
