I’ve always been a camera girlie 🤭🌺. I was the kid who always got excited to pose for pictures and would sit with editing apps ( BeautyPlus, photogrid) to edit them to post on Facebook back in the day.

🤳🏽 Content creation is so broad now and I’m loving every single bit of it. It’s a very versatile skill and I’m happy I’ve honed and I’m still honing mine.

Content creation requires skills in videography, photography, storytelling, voice overs, presenting (for on camera production), creative direction, set design, filming, editing, scripting to mention a few.

Ep 8 | Loving My Natural Hair Series 👩🏾‍🦱🪮

My first salon visit this year after thorough research for an actual natural hair salon in Ilorin. Plus I’ve been rocking my Afro more and I really enjoyed it 🤭.

I just wanted more for my hair because I’ve been stressed and I can’t walk into a random salon to meet my hair needs.

Walking into this salon and I already knew my hair would have to be trimmed 😔. It just felt comforting that the stylists knew it too and walked me through the process.

It is crazy how a little bit of neglect can ruin all your hard work 😓. And this is why we need actual specialists to care for our hair from time to time.

So yeah, we lost an inch or two but it’ll grow back. It’s hair 🙂‍↔️.

Aikons, I think I’ve found a good one so I won’t gatekeep. 🤭

I’m honestly not sure when and how this became a thing. 🤷‍♀️

When did we begin to judge expertise and competence based off follower count? I mean the ever fluctuating follower count? 🙂

Is it rage bait or a form of humbling tactic? Or the brands simply can’t afford creator rates and are too shy to say so or negotiate so they’d rather pick an irrelevant metric as reason to ghost?

I actually laughed so hard after hearing that 😂. I was amused because my expertise isn’t tied to my follower count. Follower count isn’t fueling my creativity.

Some brands go whine you but don’t panic, okay? 😤

I’ve thought about how confidence is built and it all points back to self worth birthed from self acceptance.

If you can embrace every single part of you from the crown of your hair to the soles of your feet, you’d be more confident. Accept your natural features and let no one shame you for having them.

As women, there’s more pressure on us to look a certain way, have our hair done a certain way, maintain a certain weight, do certain enhancements before we’re considered desirable or deserving. Now we’re all in a rat race to be ‘perfect’. Lmao .

This world would be boring if we all looked the same anyways 😂.

And no, I will not be conforming to beauty standards. I do not want to look like you. I want to look like myself. Beautiful and distinctive. We’re not clones of one another, yunno? 🤷‍♀️ There is beauty in individuality so consider embracing yours.

I’m sure you can tell my favourite highlight of this photo is my hair 😊.

Your boundaries are meant to be honored. They are the signal of what you can and can’t tolerate and people who want to be in your life should be able to respect them.

If they don’t respect your boundaries, they don’t deserve to be in your life and you need to revoke their access.

Humans are very selfish and they always want to benefit even to the detriment of people they claim to love.

You must learn to stand up for yourself.
Learn to say no.
Learn to say ‘I don’t like that. Don’t do that to me again’ and mean it.
You must learn to let people suffer the consequences of their actions.
Never reward bad behaviour with your presence.

You’re afraid of being alone that’s why you keep being so agreeable and nice to everyone, including people who abuse or hurt you. Lmao 🤣

Grow a spine!
The actual people who love you will respect you.
Kindness and consideration are the highest forms of love.

I usually go on solo amala dates especially when I’m overwhelmed and too tired to cook.

Amala is one of my comfort food because it’s so easy to chew and swallow 🥺.

On today’s episode of Aiko Takes Ilorin, we experience fine dining to celebrate creators in Ilorin courtesy of @thesolarahmanbrand & @redflames.ng .

From the serene ambience to the yummy meals and conversations, it was a very beautiful night.

Being a creator is hard work and brain work propelled by creativity, skill, passion and consistency. Even on days where we don’t feel like it, we still push through so to have our efforts celebrated is very thoughtful and heartwarming.
