Our best girl Kaia crossed the rainbow bridge overnight. She was having breathing difficulties and was admitted to @osuvetcollege medical center, and had stabilized but then passed in her sleep.

@calipinoh and I only had her for just over 2 years but her estimated age was about 14. She loved our little adventures and people watching. Our last adventure was a week ago.

Everyone who knew her loved her, especially everyone at OSU, her regular vet, her foster mom Megan, @savannahhenschen, @puptownlounge, our friends, and of course Joe and me the most.

We love you mama! 💔🌈

Jammies! And she is still snuggled up under the blanket on me this morning.

Maybelle had such a good day at @puptownlounge that she wasn't ready to leave when @calipinoh picked her up. 😅

My MIL sent me a box of Fuyu persimmons from their tree. Any of my local cooking and baking friends interested in some? I know they usually cost a couple dollars each around here. 🙂

Maybelle got skunked right in the face earlier this week. All of the products say to avoid the eyes but with her tiny head and chihuahua eyes, that was difficult. So now she has goggles. Now we just need a motorbike, basket, and a biker leather jacket, right @christinethegrey?

Lots of rain means lots of mushrooms growing around the neighborhood.

Another wildlife adventure from yesterday. I found this little guy in my front yard while picking up deer 💩. I thought it was a ringneck snake as did several others on the Herping Ohio Facebook group but then someone properly identified it as a Dekays brown snake. Apparently this is the newborn coloration so it's even more of a baby than I guessed from size alone.

Today's Maybelle adventure... I noticed a cicada on the sidewalk, and when I stopped to look, Maybelle became very curious. First time I've ever held one.

This is a fairy door in my neighborhood. Is that an angel looking over the Baby Jesus or a fairy about to steal the human child? 🧚‍♂️

One of my favorite photos of Kaia is of her with one of the blue fire hydrants in our neighborhood. I've been hoping to get one with Maybelle but she doesn't usually show much interest in them. Yesterday I was able to catch a few however.

Cicadas are one of my favorite sounds of summer. I happened to see the beautiful annual cicada on my peppermint this morning just after it molted. You can just see its discarded shell lower on the plant.
