𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙡𝙮 𝘽𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝘿𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢𝙨 is a performance of sounding, poetry, movement, and set design, to be site-specifically explored and story-told. Drawing on the artist’s inner conversations that she continues after her spending times with her old and new friends and workshop-giving across oceans and lands, she writes poems. She breathes with the sunset, the moon, water and trees. “𝘈𝘴 𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘵, 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘵, 𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘵 𝘪𝘵𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘶𝘴.” We are always interconnected with other beings. thank you so much yi, unfolding grounds, mushi, djerassi resident artist program and all last month. i want to credit Kris who was often wearing long skirt and her leaf that she carries. i wonder where she is now. i drew on times and conversations i shared with old and new friends, which have been my continuing inspiration for my listening into myself.

this week, on the night of the new moon, i’m grateful that i will show “breath in this world” a work of spoken words, sung voice and body, with which I’ve been traveling. i continue to learn about ‘seeing’ through it and with audiences. sept 10 at tac for return the gift sound series with henna chou and matt robidoux. thank you moe and leyya for having me. by @ainenaka

thankful for the time in kyoto and at urbanguild last week. I was moved by the whole thing since it was decided and my words don’t seem to be enough… back in the bay, green onion flower bloomed out of its skin that was like a cute cap. performance with matt ingalls this sunday at woss, sharing the night with friends. big BIG shout out to matt ingalls.
先日、京都にてパフォーマンスがあり、京都にいました。10年前に渡航して以来初めての日本のパフォーマンスサイトでのイベントで、とてもうれしいことでした。ことばが足りませんが、ずっと感動していました。
奇跡ばかり。そしてそれを信じています
パフォーマンスと私自身について、ひとつの覚悟もつきました。パフォーマンスできること、出逢い、幸せなことです

recently, I had a special trip to beijing and shanghai. very grateful to yan jun, yizhou, cai, yang ying, aling 謝謝 ! thank you to tian, terada-san, mai mai, sangtae, and kevin.
in a village near beijing, I had a chance to have a conversation with people about intergenerational trauma and share a time of workshop. I felt it’s so beautiful for us just small people to meet, and share the time of art together. I think this was the first time I understood the meaning of underground in the real sense, and what art-making across borders can mean. I really believe in connecting, repair, and friendship. thank you thank you so much

Aine Nakamura is a performer, artist, poet and improviser. She focuses on the sensibility and sensitivity in listening to hidden stories and performs using sung and spoken voice and movement across multiple cultural/transcultural sites, that are her interventions in traditional power structures. She seeks the potentialities of an injured voice and on the listening and sensing bodies. She writes words, some of which become scores, and considers shapes as if her throat itself is a membrane and body or inner is a changing shape or phenomenon among worldly phenomena, in relations. Through her practice, while aiming to be a vessel, she understands about herself and pursues meanings of lines, seeing, and connecting. In her recent transdisciplinary works and research, she explores the presence of wounds and repair, and the concepts of fragile kindness and love to access pathways to vulnerability. Engaging with sites, memory, and transborder soul work, she works in sounding/voicing, movement, storytelling/poetry, object-making / installation, and site-specific composition / improvisation.

TIAN (Wang Tian) is a cellist and music event organizer, currently based in Shanghai.

𝗔𝗱𝗶𝗲

Play violin and electronics. Improvisation, and composition. He collaborates with musicians associated with independent labels "Enban", "off-note", and "Ftarri".

𝗠𝗔𝗜 𝗺𝗮𝗶 @mai.mai.who.is

Screenwriter, director, and experimental musician. In 2006, Mai Mai formed the experimental rock band Muscle Snog, serving as vocalist/guitarist and songwriter. The band disbanded after releasing their debut album mind shop through Maybe Mars in 2009. In 2008, Mai Mai initiated the improvisational music organization R.E.S.O. while simultaneously embarking on solo explorations of free improvisation and experimental music.

my time in NY was really a reminder that we can’t live alone. (and I thought the same thing in Berlin as well.) one of the missions I had was to pick up what I had left at my friend couple’s place in Bronx six years ago at the beginning of covid. i found my poems in frames I was to exhibit in my performance exhibition that was cancelled because of covid. i didn’t remember anything about it. what i received then was the utmost kindness of her and her partner who helped me keep some of my stuff so that i can leave NY before its shutdown when we were supposed to not meet. when i visit nyc in recent years, i stay at my another friend and their partner’s place in Flushing. she is the person who made me realize that i was changing my inner shape and she is the reason i want to open myself to the world and to people. i treasure the time i had with my mentor and friend annea lockwood at her place and what i learn from her. truly an inspiring composer and dear friend. i am happy that i can look up to you, annea. zosha, thank you, it was such a beautiful time, wasn’t it. the whole trip reminded me of my intention i am becoming clearer about in art and life by @ainenaka

during the month of may, I spent my time in Berlin. the best part was all the dialogues with people and other Asian diaspora thanks to the Statue of Peace, Ari. I am in respect of Nataly Han, who has such deep insights and shared with me special times of conversations. I am finding the development of my listening to historical wounds, which I started in 2024 in Singapore, turning into having conversations not limited to historical wounds...sometimes the talk would stray and become simply into life conversations, and this may also be about transborder connection and repair work individually and collectively. thank you, Nataly, Kris, Yun, Xiaopei, whom I had a chance to interview, and Guo, John, Annie, Eric, Zhuyan... I also met other wonderful artists, thinkers and beautiful souls. thank you zk/u for giving me this chance.

upon the performance on May 21, I was thinking about a soup for a body and heart, from a book “Grandma Flora.” I am also in respect of “A Cruelty Special to Our Species” by Emily Jungmin Yoon.

Aine Nakamura @ainenaka will present her work #BreathInThisWorld. The work is for spoken words, sung voice and body movement, with a membrane and a shape. She focuses on the potentialities of voice and on the listening and sensing bodies. "As I see the moon in the night's darkness, which receives the light from the sun, the earth changing the light's shape with the earth’s shadow, I think about light and darkness, lines and shapes, wounds and love, and humans’ eyes."
