Had an awesome time last night returning to @walpublib for a special spooky season presentation on Revolutionary War-related ghost stories 👻 This might’ve been our biggest turnout yet - between in person and on Zoom, there was something like 90 people registered for the event! Thank you to all that came/watched, asked great questions and chatted with us after the preso - and thanks again to Wallingford Public Library for having us! We can’t wait to come back.

This week marks our 5th wedding anniversary (!! Can you believe it??), which also happens to coincide roughly with 5 years of the Ain’t it Scary? with Sean & Carrie podcast! Now, of course, there’s a little fudging there - kinda like when you and your longtime boo take a “break”, get back together and just pretend those lost months never happened. Here’s the deal: we *are* coming back. Full stop. We understand that the date has been pushing back, but have faith! Our new parenthood situation started off a lot more intense (and traumatizing) than was expected, and hence, getting back to “normal” (or a new normal) has been a lot more challenging than we ever imagined - mentally, emotionally, and even physically. However, there will be a new normal, and the show will be a part of it! We’re hoping to drop something fun to just catch up this month, and til then, listen to our collab with our friends over at @aboutwitchhunts on Slender Man, modern folklore and cycles of hysteria. It should whet your appetites for new episodes coming in the future!

Hey Scary Squad! Just checking in with all you fine folks. How’s your summer been? The news has been…crazy, huh? We’ll certainly have a lot to discuss when we get back! 👀

On our end, Jack is doing great and we’re getting into a groove. Poe is great too :) Hoping to be back at the podcast game very soon! We miss the show, and even more so, we miss all you listeners. Thank you for your continued support and care - we haven’t forgotten about you, and the show is still so close to our hearts.

Hi Scary Squad! We’ve been receiving a good amount of messages and comments recently asking when we’ll be back - and first of all, we are incredibly humbled by literally anyone missing the show/us, and it really warms our hearts that Ain’t it Scary has been a positive part of so many of your days, as you’ve shared.

I realize we’ve discussed posting an update to the feed a couple of times over the last few months; alas, the new parenthood era is heavy on the “we can do this, right?” and then swiftly realizing that there is only so much mental and physical bandwidth left in the day. We never planned to be on hiatus for this long, but then again, we certainly didn’t plan for our little Jack to come into the world nearly 3 months early! Due to that, as well as my hospitalization prior, this whole period has been both extended and more emotionally and mentally demanding then even your typical, already-overwhelming newborn phase.

However, Jack is doing AMAZING, and things are starting to settle into a routine as we get into the summer. I’m heading back to my day job, and after firmly establishing *that* routine, it’ll be a natural time to figure out what AIS looks like as we ease into continuing the show. Because, even with everything that unexpectedly happened, that was always the plan - we love doing the show, we love interacting with listeners, and our interest in learning more about the weird and wild and discussing that with each other has certainly not waned…in fact, we definitely weirded out some NICU staff with our overheard conversations about topics like the Black Dahlia while caring for our little guy in-hospital 😂

All this to say, AIS will be back sooner rather than later. It may begin with monthly episodes, or biweeklies, or whatever fits in to our new normal until we REALLY get in a groove. But just have faith, dear listeners - and thank you for letting us know how much the show has meant for you in the meantime. It makes coming back regularly even more of a priority for us.
