🎊 🚀 Mission accomplished, congratulations @CarbonMapper!

When California vowed to launch our own damn satellite to track dangerous pollution, our partners stepped up to the challenge, launching the Tanager-1 satellite in 2024.

The California Satellite Methane Project has already helped us stop 18 major methane leaks and the newly launched Tanager-2 will help us find and fix even more - using its data to tackle the most potent climate pollutant.

I recently visited the deployment of new technology that I supported to reduce pollution from ships at berth in Richmond and Oakland.

As a @air_resources Boardmember, I voted for a new state law requiring ships at berth to shut off their diesel engines and either connect to shore power or use equipment that captures and filters toxic emissions from their stack.

This requirement takes effect at both the Port of Richmond and the Chevron Refinery wharf and will result in less pollution in nearby neighborhoods like Pt. Richmond, Marina Bay, Iron Triangle, Santa Fe and more.

Slashing greenhouse gas emissions and growing the economy go hand-in-hand. California has proved that - in one year we achieved nearly 4% economic growth while cutting close to 4% in harmful emissions. CalEPA and its partner agencies are working hard to keep this trend going so we can keep communities healthy and safe. by @air_resources

Yesterday CARB adopted amendments to CA gasoline regulations, supporting the use of #E15 fuel. This move allows for more consumer fuel choices while maintaining public health protections.
