Will work with oils on wood panel for the next diptych. Have had these for quite some time. They’re just so beautiful as they are. Hadn’t worked on them yet.

+ A little slice of the studio.
✨Natural light.
✨Fresh air.
✨Plants so green.

As I already put on a story, I went to this incredible art opening end of June. If you’re in Paris, you still have time to see it for yourself.
REEL PART 2 (2 of 2)

• • The exhibition runs *THRU JULY 27th* 2024

LOCATION
• • GALERIE CHENUS LONGHI, Paris @chenuslonghi

• • in collaboration with Los Angeles based Legacy West Media @legacywestmedia

Highly recommend. Everyone involved in bringing together the show City of Dreams is beyond brilliant, talented and unbelievably more than down-to-earth. Truly refreshing vibes. Perfect for summer.

There are 2 reels (this one and the one posted just before) to give some little previews of the opening and to share the synergy happening with the work. The exhibit evolves throughout its duration. Follow @legacywestmedia and @chenuslonghi for continued updates and info. Most of all, stop by the Paris gallery and check it out.

ARTISTS
“Prime” Jose Reza @primek2s, Jim McHugh @westernave, “Big Sleeps” David Cavazos @bigsleeps, Rick Carter, Chris Carter, Diaa Allam @diaallam, Zane Meyer (Chop ‘Em Down Films) @chopemdownfilms, and “Kopye Son” Carlos Talavera @kopyeson

It sounds cheesy, I’m aware; it’s just that I
think this is one art opening I’m going to remember for a lifetime. C’était / c’est une expo au-delà.

There is something very special about this collaboration with @chenuslonghi and @legacywestmedia. It was such a privilege getting to meet those with Chenus Longhi and Legacy West Media, as well as, artists Prime @primek2s, Rick, and others + framer @jorongo and company Vanessa and more. A big thank you to all who were involved in the talks over the weekend of the opening and to all who organized and installed the exhibition. It was such a pleasure to get to meet and speak with all of you. Thank you for creating not just an exhibition; it has an atmosphere. Your pupils get big and you just want to soak up as much of it as possible. by @airedada

⁣I’ve been working on conveying the sensation of rhythm both while riding and while processing life right now.

🪟 What arose in my reflections while making: While focusing on what it was to be with Ovni (is her, the horse’s, name), the question that arose and shifted into focus towards the end of the last painting (from first photo) was:

What is it to be a couple? A couple when it comes to team mates, friendships, collaborations, … any sort of relationship, not limited to only romantic ones.
—

About paintings:
⠀
📖 Context: Personal shift in personal life; while in my equestrian life, currently outside of any deadlines or schedule, training and listening to Ovni: my collaborator, my love, the star, the horse I’m so privileged to know and work with.
——————

➰➰ Subject matter: I sat down to convey glimpses of recall of the sensations felt at the canter.
⠀
🖌 How/what: small works (A7 sized) on the left: water soluble graphite on linen and others on cotton paper made from t-shirt scraps. Each one starts in the bottom right hand corner and is drawn right to left, bottom to top.

(1st and 2nd photo, A6 sized): mark-making starts in the bottom right hand corner and is painted in rows as if writing: right to left, bottom to top. Photo #2 was done first (abstract, figurative, gestural paintings of horses). They’re a study of a recent round of Beezie Madden (USA Olympic show jumper) doing a jumping round. I aimed to capture the most balanced, harmonious moments of her and her horse together during the round. I did these as a study, followed by the two below which were painted while focusing on the session I had riding that day with Ovni. I focused on recall of the sensations in the canter in order to paint the fluidity of harmony and rhythm.

⁣Traveled this past weekend. Brought small format paper, watercolors, water soluble graphite and a few other materials. The trip was a little get away with a few friends not too far from the city, yet just far enough to see the countryside.⠀
⠀
About these paintings: ⠀
⠀
📖 Context: Tuesday this past week, I had an amazing lesson with a new trainer/mentor on one of his top horses. ⠀
⠀
➰🐴 ➰ Subject matter: I sat down to convey a glimpse into the sensations felt at the canter: left lead, connection on the outside rein, sometimes widening the outside rein, and continuing to ask with the inside rein for the horse to lower his head. Every time the horse lowers his head, letting the reins go longer and longer. The result: this collected canter and equally paced calm. You could feel the horse’s haunches stretching/striking the ground further towards the middle of the horse’s center of gravity, and an effortlessness, an ease. ⠀
⠀
🖌🖌 How/what: I put a paint brush in each hand, as if taking the reins. Water-soluble graphite, watercolor on acid-free, recycled paper produced from t-shirt scraps. ⠀
⠀
Diptych; dimensions: two A7 paintings. (Painted the background of one of them while waiting at the emergency room. I was seeking to re-center, and enjoy a calm by being in touch with the paper. I realized later that it coincidentally looked like my scratched up, bruised leg. Funny how the subconscious works.)⠀
⠀
🪟 What I felt that day: The contact was so light. The horse’s head so low. The sensation was like a wooden rocking horse, yet completely smooth, steady and effortlessly comfortable.⠀

🚗 Miniature Monday’s have begun 🎉. Studies in the studio. Experimenting with water soluble graphite before working on a larger scale.⁣
⁣
What did you try that’s new this past week/weekend? (Also, anyone else stay cozy working in their pajama pants today?? ❤️ if you did 😋.)⁣
⁣
Please comment below. I’d love to hear. (Plus it really helps me out.) Follow to see/comment/like the next Miniature Monday 🎉 and see more of airedada art.⁣

✍️ ✍️ Studying a recent round of Beezie Madden (American 2x Olympic gold rider in show jumping) riding Kickstart II. They placed first 🥇 in the 6 year olds at ESP Spring II just a couple weeks ago. Love the poetic, steady partnership these two show when on course—so balanced, so harmonious, so consistent. ⁣
⁣
🔘 Balance is something that captivates the senses, both when we experience it and when we see it. ⁣
⁣
🦵🦵 Here I’m focusing my attention on the horse’s legs and trunk. ⁣

Some sounds and sights of standing next to a horse. Can you imagine yourself standing there in person? Can you almost smell the hay? ❤️/👍 if you can.
.
Studies to take back to the studio: This is a peek at a photo shoot at stables in Paris. The goal was to bring back cropped and zoomed imagery that invoke the senses of being at the stables in person. The captured moments intend to transmit a mood of harmony, balance, and stillness. #soothing #therapy
