chasing after everything that I’m supposed to feel

Yet, the inner demons of my demons just refuse to chill

Here they go prescribing me
more of these blue pills

If there is any piece of god in me,
by my power I shall heal.

In a conscious state of mind
people become harder to feel
Lucid dreams, wake up wondering
if this shit is even real

Daily Mantras and paced breathing
Is keeping me from sinking
My Third eye stays open,
It’s never caught blinking

recharge under a full moons light
I Gotta gear up
Not tear up
when it’s a spiritual fight.

I Never needed a deity to activate me spiritually
my divine power comes from within
Pen and paper, close my eyes and hit send

Intrusive thoughts stampeded by emotions
I’m Worked up but not choked up
on love craft potions

Drink Green tea to digest
I Meditate to de stress
I Spark up when sunrise gazing
Energy rising up, in a forcefield blazing

If you never took a pill just to feel and be alive
Don’t try to judge me for all the times by my own hand attempted to die.

Going back to all of the nights
My hearts rhythm was faint to a beat
My thoughts prevented sleep
Mean while my eyes ceasantly weeped.

Mornings with my reflection asking which one of you? who me ? Yes you are going to bring forth perfection

It’s go time! First thank you to everyone who held space for me to be vulnerable about my health. I can often times be too transparent but my interactions are more than just business. We connect, we share, we uplift and support each other through life and all of its moments. I was told this could be cancer, but prayer covered me. This has taken a huge toll on my mental health but I’m working on myself and healing don’t come easy. See you guys when i come back a super saiyan taken in Washington D. C. by @airick_jackson

The Laws of Universal spirit taught me that true artistry is not just a service; it is a frequency. It is the act of detailing the crown while recognizing the inherent divinity in ourselves and those we choose to bring into our inner circle. This poem is for the anchors ,the people and spaces that allow us to put down the armor of the world and pick up the mantle of our calling. It is a reminder that we do not have to swallow the glass of a chaotic past to prove our strength. We manifest our highest reality the moment we decide that our peace is non-negotiable.

In just 9 days, CulturalDC presents MIGHTY MIGHTY: The Barbershop Project by acclaimed artist @devanshimoyama!

Presented in partnership with @dcpubliclibrary, this immersive, fully functioning barbershop opens May 22 in CulturalDC’s Mobile Art Gallery outside the MLK Library (901 G Street NW). The installation reimagines the barbershop as a space for transformation, healing, and radical self-expression for Black and queer communities.

Originally launched in 2019, this iteration of The Barbershop Project features new works by Shimoyama that reflect the evolution of his practice and continued engagement with themes of beauty, identity, and care.

Join us for the Opening Celebration Wednesday, May 22 | 5–8 PM CulturalDC’s Mobile Art Gallery Outside the MLK Memorial Library 901 G Street NW, Washington, DC

Guests will enjoy music, light refreshments, and an early look inside this powerful installation. Free and open to the public.

Our partners at @ushelpingus — a local nonprofit dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Black LGBTQ+ communities through HIV/STI prevention, care, mental health services, and more — will be on hand providing free STD/HIV screenings, resources, and giveaways throughout the event.
