One year ago today, I went in for a major surgery to remove multiple tumors due to colorectal cancer. 15 hours later, I was missing many body parts and now pee and 💩 in a bag. I’m writing new chapters in this life and hope to inspire others facing challenges.

I never thought I would get cancer much less stage 4 terminal. I never thought I could live with an ostomy much less two. I never cared much for medical doctors or hospitals until I arrived @oasisofhopehospital where they take a natural holistic approach to healing the mind, body and spirit while treating you like family. I never stopped believing in myself or the process. This is my story.

Life doesn’t always go according to plan. Getting diagnosed with cancer was shocking. Living with not one but two ostomies seemed unfathomable. In the midst of it all, I found myself looking to others for inspiration. I was naturally drawn to @bethanyhamilton as her story taught me that it was possible to not only survive but thrive in life no matter the circumstances. In some ways, I have never felt so alive.

I told myself I would ride again. After over two years out of the water due to a rough colorectal cancer journey, it was finally time to make good on the promise to myself. A lot of blood, sweat, tears and donated organs went into making this day possible as well as all of the support and encouragement from family and friends. This truly was a special experience at the Surf Ranch and one of the best days of my life.
