A new generation of African audio storytellers is stepping into the spotlight.

AIR, in partnership with @radioworkshop, has launched the 2026 New Voices Africa Fellowship as part of the RESONATE Story Lab.

Centered on the theme "Africa Otherwise," the fellowship empowers storytellers to challenge stereotypes and share fresh, community-rooted stories that reflect Africa's creativity, resilience, and future.

In honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we’re spotlighting AIR Member Antonia Gonzales, a citizen of the Navajo Nation, and her impactful contributions to Indigenous journalism.

With more than 20 years in Native radio, Antonia has served as anchor and producer of National Native News, creator, host, and producer of Alaska’s Native Voice, and co-creator and host of Our Living Lands. Her television work has also been featured on First Nations Experience, New Mexico PBS, and Native Report.

A longtime member of the Indigenous Journalists Association, Antonia has served as a board member and dedicated student mentor, helping support the next generation of Indigenous journalists.

Today, we celebrate Antonia’s work, leadership, and lasting impact on Indigenous storytelling and media.
