Pullmantur Air was founded in 2003 as the airline division of the Spanish travel group Pullmantur, mainly flying holidaymakers and cruise passengers from Madrid to destinations such as Cancún, Punta Cana and Santo Domingo.

The airline quickly became famous among aviation enthusiasts for its fleet of Boeing 747s, initially operating older 747-200/300s before introducing the iconic Boeing 747-400.

EuroAtlantic Airways is currently operating for Azul Airlines with their Boeing 767 and Boeing 777 fleet.
On Friday May 27th, during the #spotterdaymad2026 organized by @aireorg , I had the pleasure of seeing their 767 landing from Campinas.
I was very glad to see @euroatlantic_official in Madrid and their beautiful Boeing 767-300 , plane and airline that I had the pleasure to fly with during 4 years.

And to finish the Air Madrid saga …
The very last Air Madrid airplane vacating the runway on a commercial flight (3rd picture)
I was lucky enough to be at the Control tower in Madrid when the last ever Air Madrid commercial flight landed on the 15th of December 2006.
The first two pictures are of EC-IYB when it was already being towed to a hangar to probably de returned to its lessor.
Sadly, I couldn’t find any pictures of their A310, but I’ll keep searching.

Air Madrid had 2 Airbus A319 in its fleet. They were registered us EC-JQT (“Paseo de la Castellana”) and EC-JQU (“Plaza de España”).
The two Airbus A319s operated by Air Madrid had a fairly short service life within the company and were mainly used to strengthen European routes and feed the airline’s long-haul network to Latin America.
Both airplanes made their first flights in 2005 with Independence Air and after the airline’s bankruptcy they joined Air Madrid in 2006 ,just for 9 months, until the airline ceased is operations just 9 months later.

Air Madrid was established in 2003 with a business model aimed to offer cheaper long-haul flights, between Spain and destinations in Latin America where there was strong demand from immigrant communities and leisure travelers. Operations began in May 2004 with Airbus A330, then the fleet expanded with Airbus 340, Airbus 310 and Airbus 320´s.
Operational issues began in 2005 and especially 2006, with chronic delays, aircraft shortages, maintenance concerns, customer complaints and canceled flights.
Sadly on 15 December 2006, Air Madrid abruptly suspended operations after Spain’s Civil Aviation authority moved toward suspending its license. The airline blamed the Spanish government and claimed regulatory actions had made continued operations impossible.
