Thank you @bandcamp and @nayfunevans. 🔗bio https://daily.bandcamp.com/label-profile/air-texture-place-series-album-guide The night before the release of Air Texture’s newest compilation Place: Egypt, the New York label’s founder, James Healy, was reminiscing about the off-the-grid warehouse rave scene in Williamsburg in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s. “Landlords let you squat in their buildings for a month as long as you cleaned them up,” he recalls. “So we would live there for weeks at a time. It became this utopian, idealistic vision of what a community could be. We brought in a kitchen, sleeping quarters, and threw parties for five, six, seven thousand people.” Air Texture had functioned as an artfully curated ambient compilation series. But Healy’s experience watching the Tbilisi rave protests led to the inauguration of a new compilation series: Place:. The 2025 run of Place: releases is the most consistent yet, showcasing the music of Egypt, Toronto, Morocco, Switzerland, and Ireland. In its own small way, the Place: series proves that great electronic music can come from anywhere. “The more we do this, the less inclined we are to put together a compilation of names we’ve already heard of,” Healy says. “That’s how we came up in New York: Anyone could play at those parties. There was this free-for-all, collaborative, organized chaos. With Place:, we get back to those roots of inspiration for getting involved in this scene.” “Having a place means that you know what a place means...what it means in a storied sense of myth, character and presence… integrating native consciousness with mythic consciousness. - Gary Snyder by @airtexture

⟡ D I N A ⟡ One of our favourite artists and figureheads in the trance-techno spheres at the moment, DINA is a Berlin-based producer and DJ and co-founder of Nachtcrew – a collective fusing psychedelic music, art and 3D mapping in order to provide a totally immersive sensorial experience. DINA’s production spans spacey ambience, punching basslines, and ethereal trance with a sound that is both hard-edged and vulnerable, weaving soft femininity into rolling club music. Having released on illustrious labels such as Slash, Amniote Editions, Live From Earth, Space Trax and her own imprint Nachtcrew, she has spent years establishing herself as a as a singular voice in the contemporary scene. Through her DJ career she has been featured on Resident Advisor, Hard Dance, NTS, and hosts her monthly radio show Boarding Gate on n10.as, as well as Watan on Refuge Worldwide. Having been on our radar for many years and after a stand out release this year on Air Texture, where she presents a VA of 17 incredible artists with a release titled ‘DINA presents Rituals’, the invitation for DINA to join us was unanimous amongst both collectives. We’re obsessed with everything she does and cannot wait to experience the magic of her sound as she guides us in ritual this edition ⟢ Full line up : babsko @_babsko_ DINA @dinakhashan littlesalti @little_salti Melati @melati.dj Saroor @saroor.dj Slinky Kinky @slinkykinky_ WE.LL @_welllll_ At its core we believe that each sliver shines just as bright as the next. We’re celebrating our 15th year with some mixes on Refuge Worldwide in Berlin. Starting off with DJ Olive, someone who has been a friend and mentor since the early days of the Brooklyn underground. https://refugeworldwide.com/radio/air-texture-15-dj-olive-mix-air-texture-and-dj-olive-28-sep-2026 Olive co-curated Air Texture Vol. III alongside Deadbeat in 2013.  Involving him in the celebration brings the journey full circle—from early music days in a Greenpoint Brooklyn studio to reflecting on 15 years of Air Texture. For the mix we asked Olive to go back into our catalog and do what he does best: recontextualizing the music into a beautiful journey. by @airtexture

diving deeper into the rituals compilation w/ dina <3 for the past month we’ve been highlighting the wonderfully curated rituals compilation, pulled together by dina and released on air texture. creating a snapshot of the contemporary trance scene and its international scale, the compilation features artists from india, finland, poland, australia, sweden, iraq/canada, switzerland, france, denmark, japan, norway, austria and spain and captures a small portion of what is exciting right now in trance. nodding to old-school and contemporary sounds with a focus on the new generation of artists that bridge together the psychedelic tropes that the genre has to offer, it’s a brilliant release that perfectly encapsulates a moment in time where the global trance community feels so intertwined and are pushing the sound forward in an exciting new direction whilst the music on there feels timeless. the mind behind the compilation, dina, fell in love with trance music whilst she was living in cairo via the radio station nile fm. when she moved to toronto, she founded the women-led audiovisual collective nachtcrew alongside her sister nadia in 2017 and in 2021, they launched the label arm of the collective where dina has released two solo eps,‘pma’ and ‘where there’s smoke’. an artist that is completely drawn to the art of discovery and championing others through her work, when dina moved to berlin she launched the ambient event series, super devoted, which showcases a softer, more delicate side of her interests as she gives people the space to reconnect and recharge through the series. during the rituals takeover, dina invited contributing artists jeku, kohra, schierke and peachlyfe to contribute deeper excursions of the sound that is close to her heart. wrapping everything up in this interview, we chat to dina about her approach to curation, what she enjoyed the most about working on the compilation, artists that she wished she could’ve spotlighted and how the scene has evolved over the years. by @airtexture
⋆˚࿔ untitled 909 podcast 286: schierke (rituals takeover) ⋆˚࿔ “it’s an iteration of my 2026 livesets until now. somebody said it’d be very meaningful for them if i published it as-it-was one night, and it took some serious convincing work for me to actually publish it, because i am and will likely always be very critical of my work. if it were just up to me i’d have done a plain old dj set because it’s less intimidating... so releasing it as-is is a good challenge for me. anyway, it’s a display of schierke and intuition demos, some of which have already been released, some of which will never be finished, some of which will take on a completely new shape the day they come out, and that’s fine.” by @airtexture
Air Texture Selects: The Durutti Column. “distills minimalism, romanticism, and ambient into a sort of universal music.” - Pitchfork. Feels like the stoic older brother in the attic shaping his craft, while the kids danced to Happy Mondays downstairs. Vini started releasing music before Joy Division was a band, fragments of a memory to Factory Records and Hacienda, yet still here. Folktronic Spanish guitar loops, voice and guest vocals, kit and drum machine accompany. ⋆˚࿔ untitled 909 podcast 284: jeku (rituals takeover) ⋆˚࿔ “i recorded this mix two days after getting back home from solstice festival, so it definitely was inspired by the music and experience i had there. i also wanted to showcase some of the music i have recently got my hands on. i think the mix is kind of like a trip from more dance-y and straight forward stuff turning into something more weird and trippy and then coming to a bit of a resolution towards the end :)” by @airtexture
⋆˚࿔ untitled 909 podcast 282: peachlyfe (rituals takeover) ⋆˚࿔ “the intersection between techno and trance inspires and confuses me. at the bottom of my heart i’m probably a bit more of a trance-girly, but i also like the monotony of techno. how do i best combine them? it is kind of one of my main purposes that i sometimes feel i (somewhat) succeed with and sometimes feel is a sisyphean task.” by @airtexture
⋆˚࿔ untitled 909 podcast 281: kohra (rituals takeover) ⋆˚࿔ “i have a wide range that spans across deep techno to progressive trance so i guess this leans a bit more towards the later, including a bunch of tracks i’ve been playing over the last few months.” over the next four weeks we will be spotlighting some of the artists who have contributed to the latest air texture compilation, rituals, curated by dina. released earlier this summer, the compilation showcases the global trance community with contributions from artists based in india, finland, poland, australia, sweden, iraq/canada, switzerland, france, denmark, japan, norway, austria and spain. nodding both to old-school and contemporary sounds with a focus on the new generation of artists that bridge together the psychedelic tropes that the genre has to offer, it’s a brilliant release that perfectly encapsulates a moment in time where the global trance community feels so intertwined and are pushing the sound forward in an exciting new direction whilst the music on there is timeless. to kick off this takeover, we have goa-based producer and dj kohra (ک()رہ — Urdu for fog/mist) who contributes a mix that sums up why i love this sound so much. it’s deep and groovy as it simmers and swirls through ambient, deep techno, progressive trance and psy-influenced moods. kohra is the founder of one of my favourite labels, qilla records (قلعه Urdu – fort or castle). founded in 2011 and with other 100 releases on there now, it’s housed records from the likes of kontinum, midnight traffic, olt voct, re:axis, biocym, monophonik, shft and more <3 a master of storytelling and shapeshifting within his dj sets, he has played across asia, europe and the uk for promoters and institutions such as third eye festival, harmony records, yaga gathering, transendence, rural, wonderfruit and transmissions. his releases are featured on global imprints such as crescent london, liquid drop groove, spacelab, harmony records, inner tensions and further sessions. by @airtexture
