🚨Paul Mescal boards MARY IS MISSING as Executive Producer 🚨

We are incredibly proud to announce that Academy Award-nominated actor Paul Mescal has boarded our Oscar®-qualified short film MARY IS MISSING as Executive Producer, as the film enters the next stage of its Academy Awards® campaign.

When coming on board as Executive Producer, Paul said:
“There are films that remind you just how exciting cinema can be when it opens itself up to new voices. For me, Mary is Missing is one of those films. It’s bold, surprising and unlike anything else I’ve seen.”

Created in Maynooth, where Paul grew up, MARY IS MISSING was developed through a 12-week collaborative writers’ room with the Run of the Mill ensemble. Thirteen of the film’s 19 cast members are artists with intellectual disabilities.

Written by Aisling Byrne and Caitríona Daly, directed by Aisling Byrne and produced by Killian Coyle for Run of the Mill and Arcade Film, MARY IS MISSING has officially qualified for consideration for the 99th Academy Awards®.

We have long admired Paul’s work, and as one of the most exciting Irish actors working on the world stage, we’re very proud to welcome him to the MARY IS MISSING team 🎭

A few official snaps from the Mary Is Missing Q&A at Charlotte Street Hotel in London.

Following the FYC screening, our Executive Producer Paul Mescal joined Aisling, Killian and Mark for a conversation about Mary Is Missing, how the film came together and the journey it has been on since.

It was a brilliant chance to talk about the making of Mary with a room full of people who had just watched the film on the big screen. We love sharing Mary with new audiences and we love to talk about the process of making our film and the importance of co-creation with our artists.

We are no strangers to exceptional talent hailing from Maynooth - and are so delighted to be welcoming Paul into the fold. Game recognise game. 🤝

It takes an absolute village. I just wanted to take a minute to thank thank our village and encourage you to check out our incredible cast, crew and creative team over at runofthemill.ie/maryismissing The success and journey of the film is testament to everyone’s exceptional work and the spirit of collaboration that was behind every frame of this film. I am so grateful to every single person.

This work also takes time. It takes Years. This film stands on the shoulders of years and years of embedded collaborative practice driven by a belief that our screens and stages and cultural conversations are richer when they include everyone.

Seeing the names of some of the artists I have worked with for over fifteen years, who taught me so much of everything I know about being a good director, about inclusion and access and care as non-negotiables, lighting up Variety magazine. Tears were shed.

When our artists at @runofthemillarts occupy these spaces, it changes what’s possible for those coming behind them. You can’t be what you can’t see.

@louthinternationalfilmfestival 🎬⚡️

Screening TONIGHT at 5.20pm at IMC Cinema, Dundalk. The screening will be followed by a Q&A led Dr Ingrid Lewis in conversation with Director Aisling Byrne, the Cast and Crew.

This event is supported by The National Talent Academy for Film & TV. The NTA Film & TV is an initiative of Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland and is managed by Ardán.

Mary Is Missing is heading to the Kingdom! 🎬💚💛

We’re delighted that Mary Is Missing has been selected for the 27th Kerry International Film Festival, taking place in Killarney from October 15th to 18th.

The film will screen in Killarney on Saturday 17th October at 11am, followed later that day by a panel discussion featuring our brilliant cast member Eoghan Ashe, our director extraordinaire Aisling Connolly Byrne, and the producer of dreams, Killian Coyle.

We’re thrilled to be bringing Mary Is Missing to Kerry and to have another chance to share the film with audiences on the big screen.

What does truly inclusive filmmaking look like in practice?

Join director Aisling Byrne, alongside members of the cast and creative team behind Mary is Missing, for a special panel and Q&A exploring the making of this genre-flipping psychological thriller.

Created with artists with intellectual disabilities at the heart of both the story and its production, Mary is Missing was developed through a 12-week collaborative writers’ room and produced by Run of the Mill in association with Arcade Film, with support from Ready to Roll.

The session will explore collaborative authorship, access, facilitation and the realities of creating professional film work that meaningfully platforms intellectually disabled talent.

Still coming down to earth after the most incredible weekend at @boynevalleyiff

An unforgettable opportunity to share the work, hang out with pals, make new ones, see wonderful films, hear some very important, impactful conversations. @collettefarrell__ and @frankwkelly have built something so special not only for our entire community of filmmakers, but but also for their own. (An Lú ABÚ ❤️🤍) I feel very lucky and grateful to have been a part of it. The chance to sit together and watch the journey so far on a cinema screen was extraordinary, emotional and very impactful.

Enormously grateful to Tom Clinch & Méav Ní Mhaolchatha who make the Filmmaker in Focus Bursary possible. A massive, and very meaningful thing 🤍

Ps always always meet your heroes (especially if they are Shane meadows)

Pps Drogheda museum is unbelievably class. Come for the Martello tower. Stay for the gigantic reconstruction of the battle of Waterloo.

So delighted to be screening a selection of our films at @boynevalleyiff this weekend as part of the filmmaker in focus spotlight. There will be five films showing in total

I wanted to share just a few BTS images from the talented photographers who worked across all of these projects.

Each of these films was such a labour of love and they only exist because of the talented teams, crews and creatives who made them possible. Too many to name but you know who you are and I am forever grateful for your time, talent and collaboration.

It’s hard not to feel all the feels looking back at all of what went in to these films. I learned so much making each one. I am reminded of what a total joy and a privilege it is to get to do the thing you love and to do it with your friends.

Special mention due to @killiancoyle @arcade.film and my @runofthemillarts family.
The co-directing talents of @nedloughlinfilm & writing talents of @caitrionaemmadaly and @colm_keegan that will be on display on Sunday.

And it goes without saying — The most telegenic man in Ireland @marksmith4529 who can boast the highest number of acting credits across these projects (but @laurenlarkin10 is a close second)

Thank you to Collette, Frank and @boynevalleyiff for the surreal opportunity to watch these films curated together. 🫶 i cant wait to sit there and point out allllll my mistakes 🫠😅
