The Season of Emancipation has always been one of my favourite seasons - a time to remember, reflect, celebrate and recommit ourselves to the work of those who came before us.

This year, it felt especially meaningful to take up the mantle from my dad and serve as Master of Ceremonies for the Day of National Significance - a role I have watched him carry for so many years. In many ways, it felt like a passing of the torch, and a reminder that remembrance also comes with responsibility.

We commemorate these moments every year not simply to look backwards, but because the struggles, sacrifices and courage that shaped our freedom must continue to inform how we move forward. We owe it to those who fought before us to know their stories, honour their work and remain committed to building the society they dared to imagine.

A full-circle moment I will never forget. 💙

I had the honour of being the keynote speaker at my alma mater, Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary School’s Graduation Ceremony.

What made it even more special is that I never got to attend my own primary school graduation. Years later, I found myself standing on that very stage, encouraging another generation to dream.

I reminded the graduates that little steps lead to big dreams, and big dreams build a legacy of excellence. Most of all, I encouraged them to keep trying.

Our school motto, “He Can Who Tries,” has stayed with me throughout my life. Looking back, I now realize that the teachers at CFB were doing so much more than teaching. They were investing in us, nurturing our potential, and encouraging us to believe that our dreams were possible. I am proud to be one of the many fruits of that investment.

Thank you, Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary School!

Sincerely,
From a girl who never stopped trying. ✨

Becoming. ✨⬇️

I stood at a quiet crossroads, faced with the choice of slowly fading away or… becoming something. A friend said to me being nothing is not an option, and that’s when the word ‘becoming’ found me.

I did some research on what ‘becoming’ means and this is what I found. Becoming requires letting go what no longer serves you - whether it be people, things, situations, expectations, and old practices. It requires letting go negative self-talk, the need to be understood by those committed to misunderstanding you, timelines that were never yours, the habit of shrinking so others can feel comfortable, and the belief that growth must look graceful to count.

Now I have not figured out my personal definition for ‘becoming’ as yet - what I need to release and what I am ready to claim… but I’m working on it! 😊

So, for my birthday, drop a line about what ‘becoming’ means to you in 2026!✨ by @aishaday0
