I want to introduce you to Adrienne 🥰 I knew VERY early that I never wanted to only known for my work behind the chair… I always wanted to travel and teach SOMETHING in this industry, but teaching HAIR COLOR was never on my bingo card 🫠. Being obedient to God and saying yes to something i absolutely despised doing at the beginning of my career is continuously allowing me opportunities I truly dreamed of. As a hair color educator, being able to relate to the over thinkers (cause I am one 🫣) as well as the stylists who absolutely HATE hair color because they simply don’t truly understand it, has become my superpower. 🤔 I want to know: When it comes to doing the thing that’s going to change your life, what’s keeping you from pushing through?! Today was nothing short of beautiful 🥹. Saying goodbye to my friend and @texturevsrace teammate @kingdomofcurls_ was hard, but beautiful! You looked so SO good friend 🥹. From your head to toe signature accessories, to still being able to see those deep dimples, I’m glad I was able to show up and properly say goodbye 🕊️. ✨Your influence will never be lost, your impact will continue to shine, and your life will forever be on display in the best way! To Dom’s husband @damien0214 and OUR niece @vibeswith_kaila 🤭, we LOVE you and we’re praying for your strength as you grieve this heartbreaking loss 💔. The @blondesolutions team blew me away this Monday with their integrity and the heart behind their brand. @aj.small walked us through the key perks and benefits of Blonde Solutions so seamlessly, and @miggyhair demoed two colors, the chrome and the platinum. When I tell you this is the brand Black hair has been waiting for, I mean it! Getting that icy blonde can be so challenging for us when we start at a level 2 to 4, but this product is the solution. Yesterday I had the opportunity to co facilitate a class with @miggyhair at @citrynerosenewyork for @blondesolutions and it was absolutely perfect! Thank you to @ape.thelabel for dressing us (top, pants, and apron) in your #BleachProof apparel @ergostylingtools for providing our color brushes for the class @julie.dastine for being an amazing hostess @hairbaks for not only attending the class but literally saving the day and becoming my model when 4 models cancelled on me 😭. Girl, to come in as a student and leaving with a full on platinum transformation, baby you WON! 😂❤️❤️❤️ The pros that invested and attended, thank yall for being so attentive and engaging 🫶🏽! Yesterday I was invited by @hellosalonpro and @readthetease to visit the @amika headquarters in #NewYork to celebrate the launch of @amikapro NEW The Protector line ❤️. Each activation gave us a hands on experience into what went into creating the line, how to use each product and the opportunity to mix and mingle with some of the industry’s BEST! I went to this event ALONE and every second I looked up, someone I absolutely ADORED and ADMIRED was walking into the rooms 🥰! Just know a TIME was had 😆, connections were made🫱🏼‍🫲🏾, and I left excited about taking this product and everything I learned back to the salon ☺️. During her consultation, we talked about her starting her straight natural journey…no relaxer, no keratin or chemical straightening. She just prefers to wear her natural hair straight. But being a straight natural doesn’t mean maintaining your curl pattern no longer matters. Your curl pattern is more than an aesthetic choice. Your hair’s ability to stretch and return to its natural shape is connected to the integrity and elasticity of the hair fiber. Excessive heat can damage the cuticle and alter proteins in the strand, weakening it over time. And even if you NEVER plan to wear your curls, that damage still matters. Less elasticity and a weakened fiber can mean dryness, brittleness, splitting and eventually breakage, even while wearing the hair straight. So the goal isn’t just to keep your curls in case you want them back one day. The goal is healthy natural hair that you choose to wear straight…. not hair that is straight because its structure has been compromised. 😉 taken in Memphis, Tennessee by @aj.small

This big chop was about 8 months in the making.😅 When she first came to me, we were navigating postpartum shedding, hormonal changes and issues with her birth control, all of which were showing up in her hair. She made the necessary changes internally, while we focused on getting her hair healthy again in the salon. But somewhere along the way, we discovered another problem. She sees me biweekly and was shampooing at home on the weeks in between. What I didn’t know was that she was using deep restorative/strengthening treatments at home…and I was doing restorative treatments in the salon too. So her already vulnerable hair was essentially getting protein EVERY week. We were both trying to help…we just weren’t helping together. 😩 Too much protein without enough moisture can leave the hair hard, brittle and more prone to breakage. Once we realized what was happening, I took over her shampoos and treatments, no more at home shampoos in between appointments, pulled back on the protein and focused on moisture and balance. And it worked. Her NEW hair was healthy, soft and thriving. 🙌🏾 But the older lengths were still carrying postpartum/hormonal changes, protein overload, color, heat and everything else they had been through. Even with consistent trims, some of that hair was simply too compromised to recover. So instead of continuing to fight for the ends, we chose the healthy hair. We cut her down to roughly 1–4 inches of thriving new growth and started fresh with her curls.
