My dad was a true hustler and a legendary boxing trainer. Single-handedly, he trained three of his own children and two nephews in boxing β€” and four of us made it to the Olympics. First was Eromosele Albert, who represented Nigeria at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics. Four years later, both of his children, Jegbefumere β€œBone” Albert and Eromosele Albert, competed at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, with Eromosele making his second Olympic appearance. Last on the list was his nephew, Dauda Izobo, who went on to represent Nigeria at the Athens 2004 Olympics. Beyond the Olympics, he also produced Commonwealth Boxing Champions. Yet, despite all he accomplished for boxing in Nigeria, he was never truly recognized as one of the country’s greatest trainers. Today, I ask everyone to put aside anything they may have against me and give this man his flowers. He was a king. He was a lion. He was the best father in the world. Daddy, your death humbled me, and I will forever remain humble because of the lessons you taught me. Rest in peace to my leader, my hero, my father. 1943–2026 83 years strong by @ajbone1
