30 Summers.

It’s incredible to think about everything that has happened over the last 30 summers. I grew from childhood to adulthood here. I’ve experienced incredible highs and even the lowest lows. I’ve met thousands of people from all over the world, and I’ve had the opportunity to watch more children than I can count fall in love with camp the same way I did 30 summers ago.

I’ve now had campers whose parents were a part of my own childhood memories. Not many people are lucky enough in this lifetime to spend 30 summers doing anything—let alone something that simply brings them joy. This is not something I will ever take for granted.

What a gift to celebrate this milestone in a year when the celebration and preservation of our forever home was a gift in itself.

Jon and Elissa—thank you for protecting, preserving and fostering our incredible home. This is our home because it’s filled with our summer family. Thank you for being such an integral part of that family. Thank you for taking a chance on me at 20 years old and seeing that I had so many years ahead of me to give, when I was simply a college student who dreamed of becoming a teacher and returning year after year to camp. I guess sometimes dreams really do come true.

To my camp family, which extends well beyond the people spending my 30th “final night” with me on beautiful Fiddle Lake—thank you for being a part of my story and for making this experience one worth living over and over again.

Every summer is a new journey and a new adventure, with new faces and some of the same ones who have grown and changed alongside me. It’s the people who make the place—and after 30 summers, it’s clear that you truly are the GREATEST of people.

Golden, Colorado 2026

Walked in from camp at 6:30 PM on Saturday. Left for Colorado 6:30 AM on Sunday…..

17 years teaching, 12 years at Cantiague, 20 amazing kids, 4 incredible teachers. If we taught them nothing else it was to laugh hard, love big, be yourself, sing like no one’s watching (ESPECIALLY when it’s Backstreet Boys) and that the Knicks are the BEST! Today we got PIED!!!! As promised our classes with 100% participation threw pies at the teachers and and all got watch the fun!!! Halle’s name is now associated with joyous occasions, playfulness, traditions that bring us together, and the true spirit of the Cantiague family. I can’t think of anything that would embody her more.💜 by @ajgro10

It’s officially March which means we’ll spend this month honoring Halle Huang, a beautiful and incredibly special former student of mine who’s life was cut far too short almost four years ago at 7 years young. Halle was sunshine, rainbows, unicorns and smiles. Halle was the embodiment of what the world needs MORE of and yet we just didn’t get enough time with her. I was one of the lucky few to get to love and be loved by her. I am so glad that I truly did cherish every moment we had.

It’s hard to believe her classmates have now moved on to middle school. Missing them is a different feeling than I realized. Doing this without them feels different, as now we’re sharing her legacy with a group of students who didn’t know her. I’ll always do my best to capture how special she was- and that we should all aim to bring light to the world in the way Halle did.

We’ve spent the past few years as I will always continue to do sharing stories, pictures, smiles and memories. Her presence is felt in our school all the time in the most positive and healthy way. I’m so proud of our kids as we head into this month and they are as motivated and excited as ever. Please join me in helping to honor one of the most beautiful and amazing little girls I’ve ever known and donate to the American Heart Association in her honor. Cantiague was honored with the Community Impact award for our fundraising, and we’re hoping to beat our past two years of FUNdraising this year!
