Just a little freestyle tonight. After a dozen clousers my mind turns like a dog, SQUIRREL!!! and i just start putting material on hook and see where it goes, could be better could be worse, not bad for no plan and not leaving the couch to grab other materials.

Another thing i like doing is book shopping at used book shops online, its amazing how cheap you can find good books on tying. And sometimes learn just how wrong I have been tying patterns ive tied for years. And Ii only mean wrong in the sense that I have tied patterns how I thought they were supposed to be tied, wirh great results, but not tied exactly as the original, but @blanechocklettfishing game changer book really opened my eyes as far as the game changer platform and how and why this that. I highly recommend it. The knowledge Blane puts into it is easily digested so to speak.Yes thats Bob Clousers book as im about to go nuts on some those tonight, but you can see Blanes book is right there, and if you dont know yet,he told me that he is working on a 2nd book right now and my response to that was i wont wait so long to buy it,lol. His 1st one is that good..

Ive been wanting to share this for a while now, however time hasn't been on my side lately. So the reason for this post is to show anyone who may be wondering what the inside of the @fishpondusa Fly tying travel bag looks like here you go. This thing is built like a tank holds tons of stuff inside and out.Its big enough to hold my metz saddles on the outside with no problem,4 separate pouches inside, vise pouch, tool storage and protection shield covering your tools with plenty of room for your thread or other spooled items as well and a removable tying mat.The only thing bad about it is that i didnt buy one sooner. Hope this helps

I absolutely love belly bumpers, so much action out of these little guys, But this is what I didn't finish last night on Live so heres the finished fly and as @shallowwaterflys can atest to he was hammering sunfish on a 40-50 yr old Lefty's seatrout pattern i has tied up because it was so sexy.lol yes sexy. A lot of people may think this is for trout, but it is not, it is a saltwater fly. I cross over flies all the time with great success.fresh to salt makes no nevermind, its a baitfish pattern using colors from one of the hundreds of baitfish species.

MFC Kelly Galloup 2/0 belly bumper hook
MFC Kelly Galloup grizzy/olive hackle
Metz Cream hackle
Hairline Bucktail white, yellow
Hairline ice hair lavender,pearl
Hairline ice dub pink
Senyos laser dub olive and white
Flymen living eyes 8mm
Veevus 100D thread

Its been probably 20 yrs since i have tied these little guys,I actually forgot how much fun they are.But @shallowwaterflys is taking a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Georgia and has never any river or stream fishing so I wanted to give him the best chance of getting his fish. Good luck bud.

I NEED YOUR HELP MY FELLOW FLY TIERS.I was watching Live on here last night and seen a tying session with someone who i know locally. During the course of watching he mentioned going to Georgia next week ,but has never fished for trout or basically anything freshwater as we live on the west coast of Florida. So i thought about it all night,as he is new to flytying and flyfishing.Even brought his Dad to tying class last week,so cool,so i said to myself how can i help this kid reach his goal of catching a trout specifically or anything freshwater while hes up there. its not everyday you get to travel and fish somewhere new,so i would be most appreciative if anyone has any other flies I should add to what you see,I have around a week maybe a little more before he goes on his trip and this is to northern Georgia, a place i am not familiar with at all, but if you have ideas i can tie up to help him bag his 1st trout that would be great.

So i put a poll up on this fly, just to see if anyone would fish it, and im quite interested in what people will say. It has a few issues and since this is a prototype pattern ive already seen i need bigger claws with shoulders and a couple little tweaks but over all I'm pleased with it, it was a fun project to do, there will definitely be more to come , once i refine the pattern a little bit, but im convinced itlll do the job and hunt. Tomorrow hes off to his new owner who will hopefully be sending me some pics of the monsters he's gonna catch on it.

I recently took on a challenge of tying a fly that looks like a rubber bait. Did i succeed?

I realized i forgot to add complete photos of the entire shrimp in a previous post. this is two different versions, weighted different etc,but overall im pretty pleased with how they have turned out as well as learned an even better way to make it look and work. the 2nd photo is the shrimp in the previous post and also the 45th material change going on five, as I just made some new brushes.

Id like your thoughts, please read on.And then there is this project, ro make a 5" shrimp for the local waters.Trial and error, and the actual 1st prototype I sold, even though the gentleman was fully aware the keel weight would come off he didn't care, had to have it,and i explained to him im currently designing that fly and thats the first one, well needl to say, the olive shrimp was my 2nd attempt and so on until you reach the last photo. and that is still a prototype, its R and D but its got a lot people excited., because the next one will most likely be the fly i want it to be. and i can watch the clients jaw hit the floor,i love that so much, exceeding a clients wishes.thats the best.

And if you live near or around Punta Gorda Florida,we finally got a fly shop in town now so if you haven't been stop in and say hi to Ty the owner, or mark or mike ,whomever all very helpful, very knowledgeable its @riversandtidesusa and they have been open since August, and a fly tying class every Wednesday night from 6-8.
