Falstaff

an opera by Giuseppe Verdi

More than any of the other operas I made with Luca, this production was most faithful to his quintessential style, with the scenic environment playing a crucial, non-vocal, role. Large textiles, iron vehicles, and a huge inverted tree, moved musically around and among the cast, constructing a world that was formal, amusing, and magical. Absolute Ronconi and an absolute delight to light.

ENG: Today is the premiere of the operas 'Cavalleria Rusticana' and 'Pagliacci' — my third production since last February.
First of all, I would like to thank the Opera management, especially Sandis Voldiņš, for the invitation, and all the soloists performing in both productions (both casts — for many, the premiere will be tomorrow).
Thank you to the singers for their trust and courage in following my ideas. And of course, thanks to all the choir artists for their patience, and to my wonderful creative team — AJ Weissbard, Kristine Pasternaka, Artis Dzerve, and Liene Grava. Also to my asistents Agnese Malnača un Līga Ozola for a care.
It is always a great joy for me to work with an international team (Latvians, Armenian, Georgian, American, Russians, Ukrainians, Jews). With a team like this, anything is possible.
Toi toi toi to everyone!
