POSTS STORIES REELS

My new single Electric Blue is out today! 💙⚡️

I wrote this one in the middle of a “winter” that had nothing to do with weather. It’s about those seasons where everything feels grey, heavy, and harder than it should be — and the moment you realise the only way out is through.

Electric Blue is about colour again. Choosing joy. Choosing the version of yourself that dances under violet skies instead of sinking into the grey.

If you need a song to help you survive winter — literal or emotional — this one’s for you.
Go spin it and let it colour your world electric 💙⚡

Lose My Head is about dancing your way through heartbreak, when the only thing left to do is turn pain into energy and lose yourself under the lights. 🪩

If you’re into indie disco grooves, lots of guitars, and sing-it-out heartbreak lyrics — this one’s for you.

@aka.primetime - Electric Blue

With “Electric Blue,” AKA Primetime delivers a radiant alt-pop anthem that feels perfectly timed for anyone navigating the emotional weight of winter. The project of UK-based guitarist, producer, and songwriter Kelly Appleton, AKA Primetime continues to evolve with confidence, blending indie-pop grit with shimmering optimism. This new single stands as her boldest statement yet: a song that doesn’t deny the darkness, but chooses to dance through it.

Built on punchy bass lines, delay-soaked guitars, and irresistibly infectious hooks, Electric Blue balances raw energy with emotional warmth. Lyrically, it reframes winter as a shared experience rather than a silent struggle, offering a sense of movement, colour, and release. Written and produced by Appleton herself, the track reflects a deeply personal moment shaped by burnout, heavy expectations, and grey days, transformed into a neon-bright celebration of resilience and self-definition.

The production shines thanks to a powerful collaborative lineup, featuring JJ Roxx on vocals, Sara Farina on bass, and Jake Hayden on drums, with mixing by Barny Barnicott and mastering by John Webber. Together, they create a sound that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking, drawing subtle lines to artists like Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Warpaint, and Wolf Alice, while firmly establishing AKA Primetime’s own identity within the UK alt-pop scene.

From this page’s perspective, Electric Blue is a genuine rock-pop banger. The chorus is instantly catchy, the mix and production are polished without losing edge, and the guitar work is especially impressive. The background guitar textures, drenched in delay and subtle echo, give the track a dream-pop imprint that elevates the entire arrangement. The arpeggios glide effortlessly, adding depth and atmosphere, while the vocals sit beautifully in the mix, enhancing the emotional pull of the song. For anyone who appreciates strong guitar tones, smart pop songwriting, and feel-good energy with substance, this release is an absolute win.

I grew up loving guitar solos, so when I started producing my own alt-pop music I promised myself I’d never leave them out.
This section from Lose My Head is one of my favourites 💜🎸

Running your own project is the biggest learning curve — and I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to work in music.
You learn to be a:
🎛️ Producer
💡 Creative Director
💰 Budget Manager
📣 Marketer
… all while still being the artist.

It’s messy, exciting, and deeply rewarding.
If you’re thinking about starting your own project — take this as your sign to do it. 💪

Sometimes inspiration comes from the strangest places — for me, it was a dinosaur chase scene 🦖
Living With Ghosts is about those moments when your past feels too close for comfort, and you’re just trying to make peace with it.

🎧 Out now everywhere.

BTS from the In Body video shoot. This was my first music video for my solo project — and I had a very clear vision:
I wanted to build a cage made from sexist advertising and play inside it — to capture what it feels like to be trapped by society’s expectations.
At the height of the song, we tear it all down. That moment felt symbolic — like reclaiming space for ourselves.

Huge thanks to everyone who helped bring this to life. It was loud, messy, emotional, and one of my proudest moments so far 🖤 with @thepearlharts

I’m sorry but I challenge anyone who has ever mixed a song to tell me they haven’t gone through this 🤣. And often the first mix turns out to be the best anyway. It’s like you have to go through this maze that just leads you back to the start but that’s just the process.

🖤🖤🤷‍♀️
